A good but not great hotel in my opinion. Exceptionally quiet, but seemed like there were not many people here during my stay. This was my first trip to Auckland so I can't compare ot to other options in the area. Maybe just my opinion but had kind of an odd feel to the atmosphere. Executive club was a bit disappointing and underwhelming compared to other hotel clubs I have visited. Overall, not bad, but not exceptional compared to other high end hotels I have stayed with. One negitive, was the WiFi, at least in my room, during my stay, it was very bad.
Part of a working group that spent 2 days and 2 nights at the Sofitel AKL. We were well taken care of. The staff were attentive and helpful but gave us plenty of space. The room was ideal for the 12 of us, the catering was on point and everyone enjoyed the location to town and for walks etc. Well equipped Gym and good pool. Big thanks to Mais for handling all our meeting needs for us. Great job team.
The Sofitel was by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Auckland. The room was amazing, the room service was excellent, and the valet parking made everything so easy. The restaurant, La Marée, was next level — the Croupe d'agneau lamb dish was absolutely incredible and one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The swimming pool and gym were spotless and very well maintained, and the café, French Press, served some of the best café food in New Zealand, and the coffee was delicious. Highly recommend staying here!
Beautiful hotel and surroundings around lobby. The room furnishings probably need a refresher though, and the shower head was difficult to use. Customer service could be better for a five star hotel. For the price of the room, we would rate this an average stay!
Probably a hotel stay to forget. As a loyal ALL Diamond member, I spent 120ish nights and about $60,000 in their hotels last year. My first visit to this hotel was the most disappointing hotel stay I’ve ever had.nOur evening visit to Club Milleseme was a disaster with no food 20 minutes after opening time, no service as the only person on duty was trying to find more food and an ignored dress code had some clown with a pile of food on his plate sitting in a bath robe and several patrons in gym shorts and singlets. My club invitation asked that I respect the “smart casual dress code”. The advertised hors devours consisted of 1 cracker, a few cubes of cheese and some grapes. An unchecked entry to the club had people walking in from outside, filling plates with the little food that was left and leaving to have their kids scoff these in an adjacent room.nOur bedroom had 2 blinds that didn’t operate and a towel that appeared to have been run through a shredder. The club breakfast was as uninspiring as the evening session with the exception of zero patrons. This is meant to be a premium experience.nI will spend another 6 weeks of this year in New Zealand on business travel and not a single night will be wasted here. I’d recommend everyone heads to the SØ a little further up the road.nTo the Sofitel bunch, drop a star as the 5 you advertise is misleading, look after your premium guests because we won’t return with service and quality that is sub par. My 1 star is generous.
