Only one person on staff working at the front desk, took forever to check in and check out. Parking is a mess, it is not part of the hotel but you have to manually pay for it at the hotel front counter ???. The parking spots do not fit anything close to a normal-sized car and the garage is so small it is nearly impossible to maneuver around. Hotel room itself is clean and beds/pillows are comfy. Also quiet. AC took a while to work but did eventually cool the room down. Bathroom is a mess. Toilet requires at least 3 flushes to be any sort of productive. The shower curtains what kind of decent hotel uses shower curtains? are gross fabric and do not stick to the tub at the bottom, effectively blowing and rubbing up against you the entire time you shower, especially because of how narrow the tub is. There is no ventilation in the bathroom either, so everything gets soaking wet from the steam. Elevators make no sense and are inefficient because you have to confusingly tap the specific level you are going to beforehand and then go to a randomly specific elevator, meaning you have to wait as other operating elevators open and close ahead of yours when you could’ve taken those. I am convinced the designers of this place either didn’t go through the guest experience themselves to make sure it all makes sense and is up to standards, or they just cut corners. Not quite what I’d expect from a “nicer” hotel unfortunately
Crowne Plaza Auckland is located downtown Auckland minutes away from shopping and restaurants and a 30-minute drive from the airport, AKL. As the hotel sits on top of a small shopping centre with a multistory car park, makes it easy if you have a car. The lobby is at the 4th floor which is where you find the restaurant and bar as well as street access. The club lounge is on the 28th floor with great views of town and the harbour. The lounge is open all day for tea and coffee and does drinks and canapés between 5.30pm to 7.30pm.nThere is a good size gym on the 12th floor and a guest laundry on the 17th floor. The rooms are nice and big and well planned. If you get a suite on the 28th floor you will have the bonus of great views and a balcony! The location is excellent and you have all you need on your doorstep. Fabulous hotel for exploring town and if you are here for business.
Great location. We booked a high floor for NYE fireworks and in room 2501 were not disappointed. This also came with access to the private lounge on level 28 which had free drinks and canapes for 2 hours each night.nStaff were friendly and helpful.nBuffet breakfast was nice but some vegemite for the Aussies would be nice touch.nRoom was nice but the shower curtains really need to go.nAlso being a 5 star hotel i think bottled water should be offered to each room other a water station on each floor being there is nowhere to get filtered tap water in the room.
The Crowne Plaza Auckland was a solid choice for our stay in the city. Some areas of the hotel felt more modern than others, but overall it was decently clean and comfortable. The location was excellent, right in the heart of downtown, making it easy to get around and explore Auckland. The hotel food for dinner was pretty good. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, which made our stay smoother and more enjoyable.
As part of the IHG portfolio, the Crown Plaza Auckland offers a solid, reliable stay with its greatest strengths being its prime location and classic comforts.nnWhile the building itself is not the most modern, it possesses a timeless appeal and several attractive features. The true highlight is the spectacular view of the harbour available from many rooms and common areas, which provides a classic Auckland backdrop.nnThe good breakfast buffet is a definite plus, offering a satisfying and varied selection to start the day well.nnOverall, this property delivers on the essentials of a comfortable business or leisure stay: a good location, reliable service, satisfying breakfast, and those wonderful harbour views. It’s a dependable choice for travelers seeking those core benefits.nnA sincere thank you to the team for a pleasant visit.
