I love this salon. I have thick, curly but sometimes straight hair (!) and the manager Lee and his team always make me look *amazing*. Customer service is through the roof and everybody goes above and beyond to provide absolutely world class consultation and care. Every single staff member is patient and super friendly and the salon is inviting and leagues beyond anywhere else in Melbourne.

I can absolutely recommend Heading Out for both contemporary and classic cuts and colours - my hair has never looked so good! Lee is vastly experienced and a complete perfectionist, who has mentored and nurtured some extreme talent and customer service over the years. I have built up a thoughtful and welcome relationship with this salon and cannot imagine going anywhere else. Love your work!

I went in to have a previously stuffed up hair cut by another salon "fixed". I was told to deal with Lee the owner who charged $135 and gave me the sugar coated "Ye we are the best we will fix it" approach. So I went ahead - throughout the whole cut he was saying how amazing it will be and how there are only 5x good hair dressers in Melbourne. Basically talked himself up and then made an average hairstyle into a crew cut with no style, thought or vision. After getting home and unsuccessfully trying to style my hair, I called up extremely upset. Lee then said that he believes he did a great job and it was all he could do and to come back in 4 weeks. After 2 weeks of trying to tolerate this $2 haircut I called up asking for a refund and he flat out refused and accused me of having "My reality" which is different to his. After all the hype and self talk he gave me, I ended up with an utter bog stock $2 cut that was worse than when I walked in and the biggest mistake is that he didn't issue me a refund. People like this should be ashamed to call themselves barbers and business owners. To top it off they refuse to accept criticism. Disgusting and shameful. AVOID

You cut my hair WORSE, than when I walked in. It was butchered. I came in with an "average" hair cut and you made it worse. Over texturised to the point it looked like a birds nest and grew out even worse.  And as usual and as stated in the above, you cannot take any criticism and accept that you stuffed up. Very unprofessional. I have before and after pictures with dates (Phones don't lie) should you wish for the public to form their own opinion on your skills.

I had a hair color done from another ^famous^ hair salon and was really unhappy for their service, I called up "heading out" for an urgent hair cut, and they were so prompt in giving me an appointment within 30 mins. I went in there and their service and behaviour was highly satisfying. My hair cut was done by Fran and she gave me the best hair cut I ever had. I would recommend this salon to anyone.
