The hostel is very good! I stayed for a few days. The staff is very friendly. The facilities are good and clean. The kitchen is next to the common area so it's easy to meet and talk to people, the bathrooms are good and clean! The hostel has a house style which was really cool. It is on K road, so it is well located, I didn't have/saw any problems with this street. The only point of attention is that one of the bedrooms is exactly next to the TV room and depending on the bed you are in, it can be a little noisy!
It's a perfectly fine little hostel. Just be advised that K street is loud at night, especially on weekends until 3-4am. Private rooms had all we needed, including actually having a decent amount of wall outlets.
There are two Haka Houses, please be careful which one you book. This hotel is located on a very busy street. There are many markets and restaurants nearby. There are bunk rooms and single options. The sheets, pillows and towels were clean. If you are over 1.85, it is a bit difficult to take a shower. The common room and kitchen are right next to the reception at the entrance. All facilities seemed quite adequate. There is no parking. There is a paid parking lot 300-400 m away.
Really nice helpful staff and management. Haka House is a handy location with restaurants , bars and a variety of local retailers right beside.A very clean tidy place that feels more like a chilled out friends place than a hostel.nI've stayed at a few excellent similar places , however this is the best yet.nI highly recommend staying here at Haka House. I recently stayed at Haka Lodge in Auckland and had a very disappointing experience. The hostel is located on a party street, and the noise level was unbearable. The windows are paper thin and offer no noise insulation whatsoever. Being in my room felt like being inside a pub all night long.nnSleep was impossible due to the constant loud noises from outside. To make matters worse, I tried to contact the hostel twice to address this issue but received no response because it was outside their working hours. Even when they resumed work the next morning, they didn't bother to reply to my messages.nnOverall, the lack of sleep and poor customer service made my stay incredibly frustrating. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a restful night's sleep.
