We really enjoyed our stay at Golden Pebble Hotel. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were welcoming and helpful, which made check-in and our stay smooth and stress-free. The location is convenient, close to shops and main roads, yet still quiet at night. Overall, it was great value for money and we would happily stay here again.
I’ve stayed at this hotel roughly once every 12 months and have never had major issues, but unfortunately this recent longer stay was very disappointing.nnWhen we first walked into the room, we noticed holes in the walls that had been poorly patched, a cracked bathroom sink, and a broken cold tap. The bathroom sinks were extremely slow to drain, and the bathroom fan didn’t work at all, which caused the entire room to fog up after a shower. We also noticed the smell of smoke drifting in from other rooms, which was unpleasant and concerning. On top of that, the TV didn’t work properly.nnOn our first night, we discovered that the air conditioner was blowing warm air instead of cold. We spoke to reception and were told to simply turn it off and on again — which didn’t fix the problem. Because the room was incredibly warm, we had to sleep with the balcony door open every night, which made it difficult to sleep due to traffic noise and noise from the neighbouring room.nnOn our third night, we went back to reception, only to have the staff member abruptly end the conversation to attend to another customer. The air conditioner was never fixed.nnThis hotel has always been our go-to, but after this experience we won’t be returning. Very disappointing.
1/5 — “Two Nights Felt Like a Lifetime in a Romanian Dungeon”nnIn my personal experience, my two-night stay here felt less like accommodation and more like being locked away in some damp dungeon somewhere in Romania. The entire place had a dark, unsettling vibe I felt the second I walked in.nnThe staff, from what I experienced, weren’t just rude — they had an energy that felt downright hostile. They walked into my room without knocking, including the exact moment I had just stepped out of the shower. Nothing destroys your sense of safety faster than having your privacy ignored.nnNot one friendly face. Not one Aussie. Not even one staff member who seemed to care about treating guests like actual human beings. And if you need to leave after 11pm? Apparently, lifts stop existing. Injured, elderly, exhausted — doesn’t matter. You’re walking down the stairs whether your body can handle it or not.nnThen there was the aircon… or whatever demon lived inside it. The smell was so bad I had to keep the window open the entire stay or suffocate in that rotten, chemical stench. Between the constant accusations about nonsense, the lack of basic respect, and the creepy behaviour, I couldn’t get out fast enough.nnTo make it worse, in my personal experience they refused to return my deposit, giving vague excuses and acting like I was the problem for even asking. After everything I went through, that was the final slap in the face.nnIf you stayed here and dealt with anything similar, please share your story too. Places like this rely on people staying quiet — honest reviews are the only way others can be warned before they end up going through the same thing.
Having played in the Mountain Districts squash championship all weekend I went with a group for dinner on the Saturday night. The on-site Chinese restaurant was excellent and overall was possibly the best Chinese meal I can remember. I stayed the night and the accommodation was up to the same standard.
Place was filthy. Stank of cigarettes and the sewage pipe was leaking in the carpark. I stayed a while ago and refrained from leaving a review till my deposit was cleared.nNever again.
