A really comfortable bed, with very clean rooms and facilities.nnThe staff were all very friendly and provided wonderful service.nnThere is a choice of eating options on site for various times of the day. You can also easily walk around to the golf club if you need to stretch your legs.nnOnly a 15 minute drive from the airport and the town centre is less than a 30 minute walk via the Botanic gardens.nnMy only criticism of the hotel is that it lacked a lot of natural lighting and felt a little claustrophobic.
In general this hotel was a nice one. The room was spacious and clean. Hotel grounds were also very clean. Air conditioning machine works good. There is secure car park nearby. There are 2 restaurants inside of the hotel. You can also wash your laundry in washing machines if needed. Location is very close to the city center and supermarkets by car. The only con i can tell is that there was no luggage help available and if you have many luggages & coming from a tiring journey it is not preferable. Still i would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here if i come this city again.
We had 2 rooms booked as 2 couples travelling together. Check in was disappointing and a let down as not a very nice welcome. Our allocated rooms were far apart on different floors. When I questioned this, I was asked if we had requested to be together. Also one room had been 'upgraded', not the other..we were told as they were overbooked. We chose to be closer together and to just keep our King Deluxe rooms that had been booked. So then we were both down graded! She gave us both cookie, softened the blow, yum thank you. Checkout was great with Anna, who was very helpful and friendly as was all the rest of the staff.nThe Buffet breakfast was good but long waits on the hot breakfast. Excellent service by the staff though. Difficult to wheel all our luggage along uneven surfaces from the car park to the units. ... maybe the paths should be made easier from the car parks. We ate at both Hanuman and Salt Bush restaurants where were good.
Our room was a garden view deluxe and it was great. Nothing wrong with it, very clean and tidy and we loved it for the 3 nights we were there.nThe location was perfect, secure parking with automatic gates, beautiful foyer and good facilities. We walked around town without any hassles and did some fantastic canyon walks. They have a hair dressing salon and art gallery in the hotel also. The Laundry was good but keep an eye on the washing powder - that the machine actually uses it !. The gardens are tired and require abit of a refresh. The Room attendant was fantastic and works hard. I didn't catch her name but wanted to recomend her. So polite and helpful.nThe bar had good service and was reasonably priced, we enjoyed the adjoining restaurant, which had both indian & asian foods on the menu. Great service and top food. We tried their Salt bush restaurant one night for dinner and didn't get what we expected. It was understaffed and over priced for what you got. I could see the staff working relentlessly to do the best they possibly could, as they also did room service. I felt sorry for them, but we were there for 2.5hrs just for a starter, 2 mains and 1 desert. At one point, I had to wave a waiter down to get him to bring me a menu to take my order. It wasn't good.nBreakfast buffet was a different matter. We went there 3 times, no issue, food was fine but if you want a good coffee and not instant, you have to pay for it.nOn a couple of occasions, I struggled with the front desk staff as some staff were across their processes better than others.nI've experienced this in rural areas, it's hard to get people so no big deal, just be patient and polite.nI think that the Double tree is one of the better places to stay in Alice.nThankyou
I would say that the DoubleTree by Hilton is an interesting place to say. The staff are not wholly across processes and procedures. The rooms themselves look to have been upgraded and have a nice enough feel. Breakfast was mediocre, cold during the week and better on weekends. We asked for recommendations and referrals and weren't really assisted to get bookings in from external locations - like spas etc..
