To be honest with you they're not horrible. They offer a lot of resources to families who truly need them. I was severely abused and neglected as a child by both parents. They actually offered us counseling, temporary aba services for autism. Foster care and respite care when my parents were in the hospital or jail. Everyone was pretty supportive of us. They usually don't take children from their homes unless the abuse is severe. I'm not saying it's ideal but I know how it feels on both ends as a parent and abused child.
Look up Machelle Hobson. She was reported by many teachers, doctors, and dentists, but since she was a foster mom and these people were already making money from taking these children from their parents, moving them again only causes them more work with no added funding. Every time they got one of the 13 reports of horrific abuse they called Machelle to tell her they'd be coming, so she had a chance to threaten the children and clean up the house. Machelle was hurting these childrens' private parts, starving them, pepper spraying them, locking them in a dark closet for days, beat them in the head with her phone, rotted their teeth out, etc. DCS knew all of this but never talked to the children out of Machelles presence, and really didn't care at all. We know where these workers will spend eternity.
Nobody wants to have a DCS case but if it weren't for them I probably wouldn't be sober and doing what I am doing today. I have nothing bad to say, people always think they can fight dcs when in fact if you just work with them, do the classes, and do the right thing then they do exactly what they say they will do. DCS has a non written practice of placing kids away from family that they think does not have legal status. The sad thing is many judges buy the argument that it's in the best interest of the child not to be with a grandma or an aunt that is undocumented. This is no different than the old Indian School practice of removing native kids from their parents.
These people have my mother coustody when I was in jail for 6 HOURS!!! I CANT GET AN ANSWER TO HOW SHE HAS COUSTODY EITHER. SOMEONE'S GETTING SUED!!!
My nephew was taken from my sister back in May of this year. When everything first happened DHS was very good at keeping contact with our family, they had even mentioned sending my nephew here to Tennessee. They said they would get him here but it would take a minimum of 6 months. Well now it is October, after numerous attempts to contact them they have not returned any of our calls. We are concerned for my nephew being in a group home. He has family in Tennessee that is willing to get him the help and love and support that he needs. I am just infuriated because with us being so far away we cannot get any answers.
People rating DCS a one or two star are salty, irresponsible parents or family members who were too selfish to get their lives together for the sake of their children. I've never worked in the field, but I've known many people who have. DCS is comprised of many passionate, kind people who put their lives at risk on a daily basis.
Maricopa County and Hobson.....What kind of organization ,who is supposed to protect children, let her children slip through the cracks...where were you when her poor children were beaten and starved.The police also did an incompetent job in not escalating the investigation.It makes me sick to my stomach how your lack of concern just continued to leave these poor defenseless children with her. Shame on you!!!!
Our child was taken from us for accusations only because i worked at a daycare and he had one bruise that they tried to say the story i told them wasnt the truth on what had happened to him when i would NEVER lie about something when it comes to my child. This place literally never answers the phone when you call the direct line to your caseworker or their supervisor and even if you leave a voicemail they wont return your call in the 24/48 hours they are supposed to. They will try and switch up your words in front of you to make it seem like you are in the wrong and when you try to correct them they automatically want to make it seem as if your arguing with them.also if you have any concerns about your child dont even waste your breathe on trying to call them and talk to them our son from.the very first visit we had with him was coming in with new markings to bruises to scrathces to busted up lip and all and every time we would call this officea bout it they would act like.its not a big deal and use the excise.of our.childs age as a reason why hes getting hurt when he shouldve never been taken away from us in the first place. They also prolong a lot of things and show they are in no rush to give your child back to you no matter if your doing what your supposed to be doing or not.
This organization is a complete scam. Mark Kelly needs to shut this entire program down and restart. It is absolutely horribly run, they have no right being in the business they are in and they're spending their time chasing down false claims against good people who love their children instead of helping children who really need it. The entire practice is bogus and it would not surprise me in the least if they're brought to court as an organization for their inappropriate, inadequate, fraudulent and unconstitutional actions.
