I am a part time employee here and the staff is very kind. Fact story time:- The owner of the restaurant is 78 years old and he was there when Shri Lanka got its independence. Many people Caucasian left to countries like Canada, UK and Australia. He was selling food back in Shri Lanka and after arriving in Australia he continued. He has an old book of recipes that serves you everyday. He does not cook anymore, but give him a visit if you would like to know more.
What a waste of $17 for a cold lump rice where there’s no banana leaf and the curries are awful Not worth at all
Had banana leaf lumprise not taste at all. Chicken piece, vambatu moju, cutlet and seeni sambal and prawn paste. Paid $19.90 not worth for the price.
Best short eats in the city!
First time bought Dosa, was fresh. So went 2nd time for a takeaway. Goat curry is just horrible. Lamb pieces in a geavy just curry powder and water. Nothing else, believe me just curry powder mixed with water. Just theew it away, as cannot have it. Waste of time, money and mood spoiled. Will not go again.
$19 for a lumprise that was $18 last week. it's frozen and only had meat, caramelised onion and egg plant. no egg or prawn balch. really not worth for a frozen meal
Great little take away shop selling Sri lankan food. The lamprais are excellent . Packed with flavour and containing all the elements of a genuine Dutch burgher lamprai. Very happy customers here! We will make the trek across town as the take away food is worth the trip- good, genuine , and delicious.
Our family have been indulging in the VERY Best Sri Lankan food from Curry & Chips for many years..we don't live close but the trip is worth it!! This weekend we decided to have a banquet for Mothers Day choosing all of our favourites ...it was sensational flavor quantity definitely value for money. Thank you to Kumari & your dedicated amazing cooks.
I've been here 5 times to give it the benefit of the dought. Now I can say not worth it. 5 times I've gone in to ask for curry and chips to be told all finished despite the fryer not being turned on and I go at lunch time.. and it's called curry and chips No prices on the food I paid three different prices for the same thing and was told I'm incorrect as that is the price.. I ordered a curry for lunch and given a frozen one. The woman became upset when I said I didn't want it anymore as it was frozen and i wanted to eat it for lunch . She said to microwave it at my work. She definately was not happy I refused the meal and to pay. . She asked what she should do with the frozen meal she got for me I told her to put it back . The shop next door is much fresher tastier cheaper and honest ..
Charging $16 + for Lumprice straight out of the fridge, who does that???!! I understand if you need the cold packs to take on a trip or to eat another day... but at least have the decency to ask if it needs to be heated up? Or have the heating instructions attached to the pack? But Nah! The lumprice was very average tasting had no egg!... and i didnt even notice the prawn sambal. Was very hard to swallow overall... There are dime a dozen good Sri Lankan take aways so close to this shop serving delicious lumprice... Spicy flames and Ceylon Flavours to name a few. First time and the last time at this joint. Feel cheated at a Sri Lanan take away and that is a first for me.
