Was ok, fruit and veges looked good as you enter but then it went down hill, Found expired dressings from August and some salads also expired still for sale, lucky a team member was nearby so let him know. Rest of shop was fine but the guy bringing in trolleys was obviously not wanting to do them as he had the sourest facials on him.
It is a cloudy morning of 15 May. A short man approaches self checkout. A woman in countdown uniform, blue mask and no glasses, yells aggressively at his face. He replies back politely only to listen to worthless excuses from the staff. Outside is an ominous sign denying ALL liability for car damage whereas there are no signs saying Reserved reserved parking spot. All of what I have written here testimony is true.
Placed an express pick up two hours ago. Pickup @8:36pm. - No bill is generated yet, not marked ready, yet they gave me the order. - Which probably cause this issue, half my items are missing, no bread, no toilet paper, literally 10+ items are missing. Possibly forgot a bag due to a lack of quality control. Surely y'all have toilet paper. Just a very disappointing experience all in all, pay extra for the express pick up and they forget more than half the items. Sigh.
Recommend shoppers check the dates of products they are purchasing, after being caught out a couple of times I'm very careful. Today I picked up a "fresh" Pizza that was 5 weeks past its best before date, and 90% of the pizzas on the shelf were expired or about to expire. Maybe with the price gouging and record profits, now would be a good time to invest back into the store and improve quality and availability of products.
Best free-range roast chickens in the area. Always super fresh and juicy.
This is a review solely on the online shopping aspect of this store. I shop weekly here and for the convenience of it opt for click and collect mostly. On numerous occasions they have forgotten items in my shopping, I have picked up an order and they have forgotten 5 bags in total of shopping - I have had to drive back and fourth just to recollect my items they forgot and just last week they did not add 2 items because they were "not in stock" I had to literally walk inside after arguing with their online manager Arati that they are clearly on the shelf and what do ya know... a WHOLE shelf of the item they chose not to add in, they care about the time it takes to collect items instead of the efficiency of the total order. Arati the online manager did not take my complaints seriously and constantly smiled and smirked throughout my concerns. I've also returned on a number of occasions when other fellow online shoppers had to return to get their forgotten items.. I will not be shopping here again, and recommend not to use this stores click and collect option as they have a bad reputation of their accuracy.
I was sent away when I tried to buy methylated spirits because my 6’7, 21 year old friend who drove me to the supermarket didn’t have his ID. He even offered to show a picture of his ID which has worked buying liquor and vapes, but methylated spirits? A step too far apparently. I went in without him to appease this dumb rule and was sent away again even though I had an ID. The manager who dealt with this situation made me want to drink the methylated spirits so maybe I could have a chance at understanding this ridiculous dribble coming from the managers mouth.
Outstanding vegetables and fruits. Even better selection of cheeses including the spectacular and awards winning special brand Over the Moon. This is a good supermarket. From 1 January 2019 this store will need to address how people with mobile shopping trolleys can use the self service facility to utilize this way of shopping. Not everyone wants to carry a heavy bag. I pointed this out to 2 staff members and they noted they'll discuss their service improvement to ensure that this can occur. It'd be great if this was the first Countdown in Auckland to effect this improvement.
Clean and up market newly renovated additional floor space and car park doubling the capacity also has pharmacy and Robert Harris Coffee shop, Coffee on the go or coffee and shop. As with all countdown store has great variety keep an eye on pricing if you are a value shopper. But great all round experience.
I like this seems compact but has everything branch. The entrance area is the bakery section which is always welcoming. I did see litters in the area where trolleys are parked.
