There is not one staffed checkout here, not even for large trolley loads of groceries. Working as a checkout operator was my first job when I was 16. I am not going to do that now, especially when I am not being paid to do it, and more importantly, because my doing it means someone else isn't being paid to do that job either.nnSecondly, when I walked towards the new exit gate to leave the store, it didn't automatically open. I was looking around, and soon realised that the gate had to be opened via remote control by the working supervising. That measure might be justified as a means to reduce loss due to theft. Purely automated checkouts introduce greater losses due to theft as well. It is not difficult to deduce that, whatever those losses are, they are less than the cost of employing people to do the job of a checkout operator.nnBoth of these changes represent a disrespectful orientation to customers, and one that is certainly not balanced by particularly friendly staff or other compensations.nnEven more concerning is the suggestion that less able-bodied people might scan their own groceries and have to pack their bags. Sure, you could perhaps claim that people who require assistance might ask for the help of a staff member. However, those groups were previously spared the potential indignity of having to ask, and that should be maintained.nnLastly, marketplaces have forever been important places for people to interact. However incidental, these interactions may be of particular importance for the elderly, or socially isolated. It is a slight of hand that this customary way for customers and staff to interact has simply disappeared.
Always lovely and clean and the staff are usually pleasant to deal with.nnReally, if you've been to one Coles store, you've been to them all. A pleasure to shop at, but it does come at a premium.nnIf you're looking to stretch your shopping dollar further, Aldi is the cheapest by a long shot, followed by Woolworths. If you're looking for a top end shopping experience, then you can't go past Coles.
No deli, no staffed checkouts and malfunctioning smart gates that have a 50% chance of letting you leave. a dystopian freakshow of a store.
Coles braybrook is a great place to shop great customer service excellent prices and daily fresh bread is so good
Staff is so rudenA staff named NEBULA was so aggressively behaved with customers including me, and the reason was we entered into coles and checkout at 09:45nShe said we are closing in 5 minutes.nShe seems to be racist or rude in behaviour.nColes has to put these type of staff with some training or courses.nDisgusting
