Story

The moment you set foot into the doors of Ciao Italia, you immediately feel like you’ve walked into Italy! The melodious Italian tarantella music, Italian waiters shouting across the room, patrons tapping their feet to the music, checkered table cloth, terracotta walls, aroma of garlic, Italian nick knacks on the walls are all part of the charm in this cosy home-style restaurant.

Ciao Italia, South Perth opened in August 1999 by a young Italian chef, Spartaco Rotella. It started as an Italian takeaway with seating for 20 patrons. The reputation of its mouth watering pastas and woodfired pizzas spread quickly and this created the need for more seating. In 2009 Ciao Italia took over the shop next door and now comfortably seats 90 patrons. After 16 amazing years, Ciao Italia opened its second branch in the lush neighborhood of Nedlands.

Ciao Italia is passionate about two things, the food we serve and giving our patrons a truly authentic Italian experience! In that we mean, stepping into Italy without having to leave the country!

My partner and I went for dinner and as soon as we walked in, the restaurant made us feel like we were in Italy with its decor, music, and most importantly, the food. We can't wait to come back soon to try more of your delicious dishes. We left very happy with the exquisite flavors, the Italian-style atmosphere, and the fast and friendly service.
Portions were huge, value for money meal. But ordered 7 pasta dishes only posting the 2 which do not have faces and none of them were al dente. All were overcooked and soft. Taste of the sauces were nice though, but was surprised at the tomato based vongole pasta. Pizzas were good, had the porcini, burrata and margarita pizzas which were much better than the pasta to be honest. Dough was soft and not too thin. Nice char from the woodfire oven.nnWould go back only for the pizzas.
Atmosphere felt a bit rushed. The staff seemed quite busy handling multiple tasks at once. Luckily, we arrived early and got a table right away, so there was no need to wait, which was a nice little relief.
If you're in Perth and looking for the perfect dining spot, you can’t go wrong with this Italian gem. Hands down the best restaurant in town—both for the cozy, welcoming atmosphere and incredible food. Their lasagna is my favorite, and the tiramisu? Easily the best I’ve ever had! It’s the perfect place for a date night, with a romantic vibe and dishes that will impress anyone.Highly recommend!
I hear a lot of good recommendation about this restaurant so I really want to try it. I was visited Wednesday dinner. Busy as I heard. Put your name on the waiting list first than staff will let you know when table is ready. All food I ordered was amazing and portion also satisfied. Especially, bruschetta and chili shrimp pizza and the best Tiramisu. As a dessert Tiramisu and cappuccino are great match. Highly recommend. Worth to wait.nAvailable to use baby chair.
