Chocolate Buddha is Japanese communal dining.
We close for renovations in March ‘19. We have opened a pop-up directly across us in the Yarra building.

Story

Chocolate Buddha is a Japanese inspired communal dining room located at Melbourne's Federation Square. The menu boasts the most staple foods eaten in Japan - Ramen & Donburi as well as Sushi.

Our menu varies from traditional Japanese menus to incorporate local and international produce. A great selection of Wines, Sake, Beers and Spirits will refresh and compliment your dining experience.

A unique interior design with Buddha's adorning the restaurant provides an inviting atmosphere.

We welcome you, and sincerely hope to provide you with an uplifting dining experience.

Great dining experience. A lot of alcoholic drink selection including sakes. Great service. We ask the waiter to “feed us”, and they gave us a nice range of food. Very impressed. I’d come here again.

The customer service was amazing; the staff were friendly and down to earth! The sushi was very nice, quite expensive, but tasted delicious. The only thing I would say is that the pieces are very large, so can be difficult to eat. But nonetheless delicious.
A spotlessly clean Japanese restaurant in Federation Square. The food was just excellent. And we had sashimi, Korean chicken, etc. The sashimi was sensational. The service was reasonably quick, and friendly. Has 2 x beers on tap. Worth a visit.
Salmon Don was decent. Personally would not recommend the spicy pork ramen if you wanted a more authentic Japanese taste, more Korean Tasting. Not a big fan of the dish, not to mention the string that was not removed from the bbq pork unfortunately.
YOU MUST TRY SAKE FLIGHT V.2. I love it soooo much! And I really like the digital menu they provide. So easy to order and much less intimidating
Lovely evening. Food was sublime and the QR code ordering system was very convenient. Friendly and fast service.
