Had a wonderful experience at Akaiito! We were greeted and taken to our seats with a warm welcome. Staff were attentive, dishes came out in good time and beautifully presented! As for flavours, the dishes were a balance between subtle and strong which complimented the ingredients beautifully. My favourite is the smoked Spanish mackerel with the roast duck being a close second! The place has a modern Japanese vibe and loved the open kitchen where you can see the chefs in their craft! Would definitely return again Off street parking available right in front and a projected floor light to let you know where the entrance is as the door is subtle so you might blink and miss it.
We selected the Akaiito Kojin Menu which consisted of 7 courses across 2.5 hours. It sure did not disappoint, each course was balanced and delicious with the short rib Angus topping the charts. Soft & beautiful ambience with an open space kitchen to admire. Will come back again!
A truly amazing modern Australian take on Japanese cuisine. They had me at the freshly baked bread from the beginning. The progression through each course was also extremely cohesive and well thought by the chef. The nama matcha chocolate at the end just tied everything together for a smooth ending. Looking forward to the next visit
If you're looking for unique Japanese dining experience, Akaiito is the one. The Murray cod was my favourite dish - it was cooked perfectly. The service was wonderful and the rhubarb dessert was delicious. Keep in mind that the prices are on the higher end, but the food and environment are both price matching
Went here with a couple of mates for a catchup. We got the feed me menu they had the regular on and I had the vegetarian. We drank a fee beers and whiskeys - they have a decent Japanese collection. My favorite was the charcoal broccoli, it was unique and tasted awesome.
Before heading to the restaurant, we set our expectations below average since we saw previous reviews stating it wasnt good and etc. Unexpectedly, it was the other way around! Truly love it, will return soon when I’m back here in Melbourne, Australia. Akaiito’s a hidden gem opp Tian38 that serves great course meal! With a whopping 10 course meal with Petit Four & Japanese Tea to cleanse our meal, Akaiito has successfully filled our tummy with delicious food. The price point for this course is pretty reasonable at 180pp with additional 28 pp for truffle shavings on selected dishes. On top of this, staffs and chefs were very friendly! Though a small miss on my request perhaps Note made during reservation. The occasion was meant to celebrate my girlfriend’s graduation, thus we were expecting a special thing. Small or big not a big deal. Or perhaps a candle on top of one of the food that we are having. A plus point if this could happened, but thats OK! Tonight’s dinner can be rated top-notch. Worth a visit. Recommended for all foodies out there!
Lovely experience with Akaiito. We celebrated our anniversary here – beautiful environment, outstanding food, attentive service. I love their new concept of Japanese food and how they respect seasonal ingredients here. I would say My toothfish with Mussel is just delicious. Recommend especially for a romantic dinner out.
Quiet night upstairs, but great service as a result from Charles and the chef. Degustation was an intriguing and delicious exploration of Japanese flavours. Highlights included a savoury charcoal and ikura macaron, a gorgeous miso black cod, and amazake icecream. Restaurant itself is intimate, and I had a good view of the open kitchen. Will definitely be returning in the future!
Great experience, we went on a Tuesday evening and it was great. Not too busy, caring and attentive staff, and the food was awesome. Fine ingredients and cuisine. Highly recommend.Food: 5/5
Never again! I don’t usually give 1 star but this restaurant I wish I can give zero star. Rude unwelcome staff with no service. Kojin menu $145 pp I am expecting some decent food, but turns out way below average food. BURNT fish skin on way overcooked toothfish, I tried to have a little bite on the skin as I thought may be they purposely charred it or maybe it is seaweed, but turns out it was burnt, total burnt, bitterly, uneatable fish skin. That bitterly taste is still in my throat even after hours. So surprised that they charge this money and don’t quality check their dishes. Entrees were served in a rush, but then long long wait for the mains/robatayaki. Well…$145 pp for this food quality and service, never again, there are heaps restaurants around can do better.
