Nice enough. A few short trails. Parking spaces largely used by local strata with insufficient amenity for visitors. Bus access is pretty good. The actual bush is pretty nice and the tracks are enjoyable. Wayfinding is good by Brisbane City Council standards but you might like to bring some breadcrumbs because it's a bit Hansel and Gretel if you come from any place that supports walking.
Good place for a walk in relative shade, making its way through shaded reserve forest with inclines that are not too hard to navigate. Pets are allowed on leash. Parking spaces are provided at the entrance off Hamilton Street on Trouts Road.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Finally went back to my old stomping grounds of the 70s and early 80s. Spent countless days hanging out on BMX bikes right through every part of this bush. Sure, it's been regulated, modernised and changed quite a lot, with wide easy tracks and houses around now, but was cool to see many of the old routes we went over hundreds or probably thousands of times still there. So glad "progress" hasn't stolen all of this area and most of it still remains. Will undoubtedly return when I come back down to Brisbane and relive my childhood.
What an awesome spot! Not sure how I've only just discovered it. Really hard to believe a spot like this is tucked away inside Chermside. There were plenty of people with dogs. We had a pram although pushing that was a little inconvenient at parts so definitely family friendly. There's a few different tracks, we did the 1.3km~ track.
A great variety of walks, nothing taxing. People can likely see the whole reserve in an hour. Good visibility through the trees, it doesn't feel like too dense a forest.
A little tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle. I grew up running through this area as a kid and it brings me such joy that people can still enjoy this little escape into the bush. Almost every time I see wallabies and the people using the reserve seem to be respectful and keep their dogs on leads.
The Chermside Hills Reserve is an amazing little area so close to the city. A great place to go for a walk and escape the hustle. The collection of black boy trees alone make this place a must visit. The council should be very proud of this asset, the people responsible for its care do an amazing job to keep it looking beautiful and clean. Might see a few wallabies if your lucky
Such a beautiful little reserve in the heart of our neighbourhood. I see little Joeys every morning, owls and other birds. My morning destination for a run and cycle.
Giwadha track entry on Trouts Rd is a lovely 2km loop. If trail running 2 loops is comfortable with a detour up Spider Hill for a bit of elevation with decent gradient to practise uphill and downhill running. It’s all part of Chermside Hills Reserve 8km loop
This is a great place to come and walk with your dog. Especially if it’s a bit too warm or humid to be in direct sun, as there is plenty of tree coverage and shading. There are a good amount of trails in the Reserve to walk, and can go in a number of different directions. It is not flat, so bear that in mind and in a few places it can be a bit of a gradient, nothing too dramatic though.
