I’m not one to ever leave a negative review but this place really was something else. I seen the 4 star rating and assumed this would be nice. I payed for a room with aircon it was definitely installed but didn’t work. Flat screen TV is a bit funny when it’s a 32” TV. I guess you’re not there to watch movies. Bed was incredibly firm something to keep in mind for sleepers used to a soft mattress. Hot water stopped working after 5 minuets so we had to stagger showers to ensure we’d both not run out. Worst of all we had multiple instances with cockroaches in the room. I noticed while checking out a cockroach dying near the doorway. While I understand bugs etc being a normal thing I’ve never experienced so many in a hotel before. Positive feedback view is pretty nice and listening to the ocean was an added bonus. I understand it’s a budget hotel but you can book similar hotels in the same area for $10-$20 more a night that will be a better experience. I will say the service was very good at check in though.
Definitely value for money. Right on the Esplanade, I had an awesome view of the beach and Surfers Paradise, and so close to many awesome attractions. This hotel may be a little older, but it was clean and tidy, and the staff were lovely and helpful. The bed was comfortable and my room had a brand new TV. An enjoyable stay on all counts. I would definitely recommend.
Great location and view, few mins walk to food, transport and more. The rooms are of value as its big, but it's very worn and if you open the window at night a lot of bugs will fly in. Amenities are lacking you only get a small shampoo and 2 bars of soap. Towels cost extra. Has 3 Jacuzzis, a pool, sauna and steam room so that's great. Service varies depending who's at the front desk, but overall we had a great experience.
I stayed here a couple months ago and it was horrible. The room was decent but everything was old and rusty or didn't work properly - tried to spend as little time in as possible. The 'arcade' if you can even call it that was old and most of the machines were off. And couldn't even play on the tennis court as it was full of cars. All I can say is don't trust the pictures. The only good thing was the service.
I enjoyed my stay at the Chateau and you basically get exactly what you pay for. I don't understand why people write bad reviews for the cleanliness as it wasn't that bad. If you want a higher class apartment then you'll have to pay extra elsewhere. In general the facilties are good and the location is great. The reason I only gave the rating 4 stars is because I was a late arrival and when I did arrive I had to wait outside for ages until someone answered the phone and could eventually let me in.
Overall the stay in this place was ok, however the room wasn’t very well kept and the bed was basically in the living room. You have to pay to use the couch fold out bed and there’s no balcony other then sliding doors that open to a railing right up against them. Would not recommend staying in room 1601 at all and here are the reasons why: Room 1601: - wall damaged in the corner - couch fold out bed locked - bathroom is the only separate area from everything else - No sink, stove or oven in kitchen area - one double bed - two small lights - limited food storage space - toilet has to be flushed multiple times if used As for level P which holds the games room, pool, spa, steam room, and gym, it was very disappointing to find out that the doors to outside on that level were locked and that the games in the games room were not playable, here’s the reasoning as to why these areas where disappointing: Games room: - Almost everything out of order - claw machines with outdated items - not well ventilated Gym: - in the games room - separated from games room with fence - limited equipment Pool: - same level as games room, couldn’t figure out how to access - doors to outside locked - have to go to reception if wanting access Spa and Steam room: - no notes on them
You get what you pay for, and by that I mean you get a room with a beautiful view and close to the beach but that’s it. Not booking here next time, hair dryer’s heating element was broken they replaced, light in the bathroom flickered and died out, pool had some debris in it, spas were cold, expected to pay $3 for an extra towel even though we stayed for 7 nights, paper thin walls, two tiny bins on each floor for everyone’s rubbish to be disposed in, ripped/worn out old furniture, fridge that didn’t close properly and needed force…. At the end of the day if you’re looking for a cheap place to sleep at night it’s fine but I wouldn’t recommend. Desk staff seemed nice enough but the vibes of this place were completely off
Love the view! Love the proximity to the beach! It cannot get any closer other than right on the sand. The room is cute air bnb host and the reception staff were friendly! The lower level parking enters the building in the basement level and it is stinkkyyyyy. But other areas are not smelly in the slightest :
The view is great and it is very close to the main areas of surfers however the room itself was very disappointing. - couch is broken, sags so much you hit the wooden planks under it - no ceiling lights in kitchen and bedroom - bed is uneven and sunken in the middle - main wall needs to be repainted as there are patches of different colours from previous damage - shower sliding door is fully broken - soap dispenser is broken - water pressure in shower is average - no fan in the bathroom - didn’t refresh towels, only two towels provided for a week long stay - tried to check in 1 hour early and receptionist said she would msg to let me know when the room was ready and never did - gym is terrible - only one set of keys - toasters good - tv has lots of channels, better than most - great view - comes with little milks - room was clean on arrival - car is secured in parking - kitchen is good size, mostly okay
AVOID!!! Please do yourself a favour and DONT book to stay here! The most unclean accommodation I've ever walked into. Reception and internal walkways smelt like dirty dippers. Not to mention what you book and see online is not what you see in person. False and misleading advertising! Service was also very rude. We walked out after 2 minutes of walking into the room with our small child and found ourselves staying else where. Stay anywhere but here if you require cleanliness and lovely customer service.
