It's a typical station, but I must say it's not very well planned. Besides the tracks and other technical aspects, the entrance and other aspects could be more impressive. The lack of an elevator is a big concern for seniors.
Lovely old station. Always clean, plenty of seating. Could definitely do with some security patrols at night. Not a lot of lighting once you're out of the station and knowing security is on hand would certainly make the wait at night more comfortable.
These PTV whacks care more about statistics than they do people. If you’re changing our lines then accomodate those changes by also modifying our connecting train services to follow their same schedule. I arrived on the Cranbourne line and thought trains would accomodate the sprint we had to make as we viewed the train docked at the station across the lines. But in actuality, it waited not a second more than they regularly would at the station, really what had to be said is PTV, you just suck. Imagine not allowing us to get where we need to be in the time our PTV app tells us we will take, the very thing we rely on to be punctual and assess our needs with what you are offering- honestly to whoever’s idea it was to omit this amendment, or whoever was in charge of mitigation and yet didn’t have the brain to think of it, I wouldn’t be surprised if your parents sucked too. Be better, stop treating the statistical data of how long each train is at the station as being worth more than the blue collar who gets docked for your crappy planning with train rescheduling.
Good train station with easy connections to bus and tram. The Racecourse and Monash Campus are also very close to the station making it easy to reach these venues when using public transport. Plenty of shelter and staff. The underpass however can feel crowded during the day and unsafe at night.
This recently upgraded station is in a good location near quite a few cafes and even Coles supermarket nearby but if in a hurry the little cafe at the end of the ramps is good value, I mean where else can you grab a coffee while on the run for just $2.50 and Egg & Bacon for only $3.50? Another feature of Caulfield Railway Station is the free secure bike storage provided which you can see in the photos.
