As a regular visitor, I nearly always enjoy my stay at Castaways. The new room service menu was fantastic & the staff are always pleasant. However something needs to be done about the old beach front rooms. They are seriously shabby & out of date! The older style shower over bath is a slip hazard & shower curtains in hotel rooms are just gross. Hopefully I'll get one of the refurbished rooms next time 😊

Good enough three bedder (1 queen size, 2 single beds) . It was clean but the bathroom definitely needs updating and a sink in the kitchenette would've been nice as cleaning wine glasses in the bathroom sink does not appeal to me. The best part of snagging the bottom floor is having such easy access to the pool and beach. Sitting on the deck chairs just outside the room listening to the mini waterfall and watching over my two little ones, I felt myself relax and unwind. A sensation I haven't felt since my children endowed me with their presences over four years ago. The Drift Spa located just 25 metres from our room was a great bonus. The restaurant was full and I recommend to book if you want to have dinner. However, the seafood linguine was terrible (seafood was well overdone), chicken broccolini pasta was average and the rib eye fillet was ok. Verdict = average food, over-priced. Continental breakfast was included and offered a good selection of fresh fruit and pastries to die for. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would only return for the location of our room, breakfast and the view.

Stayed for one night, so don't have much to go on. But the beach was amazing and so were the staff. Probably has the third coolest pool I've ever seen. My only qualm is that the breakfast buffet was not as lavish as I would've liked.

Jan 2018: Can again confirm the sticky date pudding is possibly the best in Oz. The wild mushroom risotto is perfect every time. But the Wagyu steak was very disappointing - overcooked and sent back, and to their credit got it right, but the steak didn't taste any better than a cheap pub steak. The limited menu (10 or so main meal options) means we've run out of options. Desperately in need of a menu freshen-up. Service is standout. Overall a pricey hit-or-miss affair but where the menu lacks, the ambience and service make up. July 2017: Upscale dining in a beautiful beachfront location. Food and drinks are very expensive and not always worth the price. Service is always perfect. Would not recommend the seafood linguini. Risottos are consistently good. Sticky date pudding was to die for. I heard rave reviews on the Wagyu steak. Two kids meals and two adult meals, deserts, no drinks cost $133. Not a great place for young kids but older kids can roam the beachfront gardens.

Rushed at reception. Good standard room with lovely view. Breakfast cleared away early due to Melbourne Cup lunch that day.
