Yes, like what a lot of reviews has indicated, the owner can be blunt and rude. When I started going there initially (because of the convenient location) for some reason he thought I was there to steal something or for some other nefarious reason. No courtesies at all when assisting or at checkout. Over time however he has softened with me and I get great assistance and time with finding items/advice. I actually get a smile and a thank you as well at checkout! Good range of products and competitive pricing and worth going to for locals, if you can look past the "customer service" and don't take it personally.

Worst customer service you could imagine, and has a reputation for it. Do not go here.

Very rude owner. Mr Caroll is grumpy, uninterested and rude. Not a nice man. 

I saw him mock a young french tourist in front of me struggling with English. He was then very unhelpful to me.

He'd be better working alone rather then retail

Great selection for an urban hardware store. I found the staff quite helpful and friendly.

It's pretty convenient to have a hardware store in Darlinghurst and the selection and pricing is reasonable for the size of the store.

I didn't find the guys working there rude or unhelpful. They are just a bit surly and old school - nothing wrong with that!
