Just above the door you'll see the original vinyl lettering of the The Canberra Coffee Centre which was established in 1976. Not much has changed since then and to this day, Cafe Essen has a loyal and eclectic community of academics, city workers and students who all share a love of good coffee and quality food. With hearty and generous portions, and a huge menu including a special tea and coffee menu, it's obvious this cafe isn't driven solely by profit. The staff are unpretentious and you'll be made to feel welcome.
