As an out of town visitor we were wandering the food precinct in Canberra trying to find somewhere nice for dinner. After walking past many places that were overcrowded or really noisy, we decided to give Gus' a go. There were only a few tables empty but the noise wasn't really loud which made for pleasant dining being able to hear the other people at the table. The food was great and our waitress was fantastic. Lindsay is a 10 out of 10 for helpfulness and professionalism. We couldn't get a particular item on the menu as it was unavailable but Lindsay was more than happy to make a few trips to the chef to sort out an alternative for us. The only other issue we encountered was a dish we ordered to share must have been missed in the kitchen and came out a little bit later. Apart from those couple of minor issues the food was great, the staff were great and I would definitely recommend this as a great dining experience.

Amazing food, very attentive and friendly service. Best coffee I've had in Canberra so far and the temperature and was perfect, something not often achieved by many cafes. Their newly refurbished interior is lovely too! I will definitely go back and very keen to try their new dinner menu soon! All in all a very pleasant experience. You guys nailed it!

Newly refurbished and looking good I dropped in for a coffee with a few work colleagues. We were squished into a table that sat right in front of a swinging door. Each time someone moved through the door it hit the back of my chair. Unfortunately the girl mucked up the coffee orders. We didn't mention it out of politeness. She manage to get the food order wrong as well but we asked them to correct it. It wasn't busy so I'm not sure how the girl mucked up the order so badly. Price wise, I was shocked that a coffee and toast with butter cost $11. Guess I paid $6-$7 for two pieces of toast. Maybe that's what the going rate is these days I'm not too sure. We all had a little bit of a chuckle at the experience after we left. It's pretty safe to say we'll choose elsewhere for future coffee meets. Hope things get a bit better for Gus's place.

Great coffee, great food, friendly staff, was really impressed with the juices as well. I was really nice to have a refreshing, cool sunset boulevard (juice) on a warm morning to accompany the big breakfast dish, which is pretty uncommon these days. my wife had the eggs benedict which i can’t seem to find at many places as well. glad to see that one cafe does offer these two breakfast classics. will definitely be coming here again! great work, keep it up guys!

Enjoyed one of the best steaks ever at a meal during our recent visit to Canberra. We arrived late from Sydney so had missed lunch but the waiter was most obliging and asked to chef to open the dinner menu early. We were happy to wait the 20 minutes till the kitchen opened but being hungry were thrilled by their efforts when the meal arrived "early". Steak was exceptional and the ribs were enjoyed by my partner also. Very attentive and friendly service and great beer and wine selection. The waiter gave us a run down on the best vantage points to check out the Summernats car cruisers. Could not have been happier with our dining experience and well priced. Alas it all went south the night after when we dined at La Rustica at Kingston where we had the worst meal and service I had experienced in more than a decade. We will be back to Gus' next time I am in Canberra. Highly recommended.
