Very useless and unresponsive…It took too long to connect to agent through either WhatsApp or Bupa message.nnThe monent when I could connect to a real agent not a robot and the agent told me my device has been used to contact them several times. They were unsure that’s policy holder or someone used it with other intentions, and they’d done the chat there without saying anything more. The conversation just ended like 2 strangers talking hi to each other on the street.
I was with Bupa for 20 years before cancelling my cover after they refused a legitimate claim and kept taking direct debits for six months after my card had expired, despite several attempts to cancel. Squeezing every last dollar seems to be their business model, but the growing list of scathing reviews says it all.
I was trying to move from corporate gold cover to personal silver cover, after four x 2hr frustrating calls, I give up. I am moving back to Medibank.nnI spoke to incompetent call centre agent after incompetence agent. I would think it was all setup and then I would get another BOT call or email telling me otherwise and then another 2hr call with another incompetent agent. It went on for weeks!!!!nnI was passed from incompetence department to incompetence department for what shoukd be a simple request.nnI received call after call from a BOT demanding I pay for something I never agreed too as well as demanding emails.nnEven setting up a direct debit meant I needed to be transferred to another department. I told her to forget about it, I had initiated the transfer to Medibank and she simply apologised.nnI tried so many times to simply setup a new account and direct debitnnNever again.nnI have better things to do with my time.
Poor customer service, and too much expensive compare to other provider. Moved to HCF, quite happy with moved. Wish could have done much earlier and save my hard earn money and waste of time for unresponsive customer service.
As an international student insured by Bupa under the Overseas Student Health Cover OSHC, I’ve had a very disappointing and frustrating experience.nnI was admitted to Sunshine Hospital in April 2025 due to severe vomiting, dehydration, and loss of consciousness. I was treated with IV fluids and anti-nausea medication. Despite this, Bupa rejected my hospital claim, stating it was due to a pre-existing migraine — even though that was not the reason I sought medical attention.nnTo make things worse, Bupa is demanding an itemised invoice that the hospital has not provided, and I'm now being contacted by a debt collection agency Recoveries Corp for a bill of AUD $1,700. I’ve done my part, submitted medical documents, followed all steps, and now I’m left financially and emotionally stressed — all while Bupa continues to delay or deny support.nnI’ve raised this with the Commonwealth Ombudsman, but felt it was important to share this experience publicly. International students deserve transparency, timely claims processing, and fair assessments — not additional stress during medical emergencies.
