Do not bother using this business for warranty insurance. Whilst Emily was sometimes responsive and understanding to my emails, they use VMIA to insure with and you DO NOT want to touch them with a 10 foot pole. I was told my insurance application would be processed in 10 business days.......months later it's still not done and they will not even give me a timeline of how much longer it will take. I ended up using another business who processed and approved my application in 1 HOUR!!!!!! And this is their normal turnaround time. I understand there is a bigger workload at the moment, but the more I dig the more I find out how incompetent VMIA are ALL THE TIME. If I had known I could have gone elsewhere from the start and not been put through the horrendous stress they caused us over a number of months, I never would have persisted with them.
MBIB do NOT take safety concerns seriously. Edit: Reply to Joe: 28th February '23 Thank you for your reply Joe. As discussed with you over the phone, the issue was in relation to your reply noting that the appointed assessor deemed the "balcony not to be a safety issue". As per your updated response, safety concerns were flagged by the assessor, as brickwork was to be immediately demolished if cracks eventuated. Which it had while the claim was in progress and MBIB were alerted. If MBIB cared about home owners safety, a MBIB Team Leader should NOT have notified their client our Builder that it's in the "hands of the insurer" in August '21 after they had receieved an email from your client stating the home owner is "worried that someone is going to get hurt" and that your client had a Direction to Fix which documented a "life safety issue" from the Bld' Surveyor. As DTF's need to be adhered to by law, the advice your client recieved from MBIB at the time did not cater to the safety needs of the home owners and public. Furthermore, your client waited for advice from MBIB's Senior Account Executive SAE in January '22 in regards to the outcome of the claim from the insurer and for it to be reviewed by MBIB which was a mistake on your clients behalf. Your client still had believed that it was in the hands of the insurer for the past 5 months in January '22 and had made no action to rectify the safety concern. I expressed the urgency to the SAE over the phone to notify their client that the reports recieved that day by MBIB contained immediate action to take down the brick pier and to relay that to them, rather than to direct them. To which he responded, it's not his "responsibility to tell the builder to remove the brickwork" and he would be providing their review of the report to your client three days later, despite the clear safety urgency around the matter and extreme weather events that occured that weekend. I do appreciate the time you have taken into understanding the situation, however I still believe MBIB should hold accountability for the safety of others, regardless of whether it was insurance related situation or not.
