Bunnings Manukau is genuinely one of the best hardware stores around in terms of range and availability. The store is massive, well-organised, and has just about everything you could need—whether you’re doing a small home repair, a full renovation, or a trade-level job. The shelves are well-stocked, and the layout makes it easy to browse once you get familiar with it. You can spend hours here and still come out with new ideas for your next project.nnBut as much as I love the store itself, the customer service is where it falls short—big time. It’s incredibly difficult to find staff on the floor when you need help. More often than not, they’re either walking away quickly or seem to vanish into thin air when you start heading toward them. It feels like you’re on a bit of a mission just to track someone down. And even when you do manage to get someone’s attention, the help you get is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a knowledgeable team member, but other times the answers are vague, rushed, or just plain unhelpful.nnIt’s a shame because with a store this good, you’d expect the service to match. If Bunnings Manukau could sort out the staffing issue—either by having more people available or ensuring the ones on duty are more approachable and informed—it would easily be a five-star experience.nnFor now, it’s a great place to shop if you already know what you’re looking for. If you need advice or assistance, prepare to be patient… and maybe bring a compass.

Shout out to Dharmesh for going the extra mile. He helped me pick the right paint for my fascia/house. He was extremely helpful, friendly, honest and professional. The Young man was able to asisst me with thencorrect paint, was very thorough and talked me through, also helped select the right rollers and brushes which I had no clue about lol.nnSo thank you Dharmesh I appreciate your help and rate you 5 for excellent customer service!! 90% of the plants are actively dying or are dead. Soil bags were ripped open , dead sunflowers on sale for $2. Dried up herbs wrapped in newspaper for $6.50. Staff standing around chatting , no one in the garden area looking after the plants.
I’ve been shopping at Bunnings Manukau for over 15 years, but over the past year I’ve noticed a clear decline. Shelves are often empty, and even online, shelf locations don’t appear online. Staff also seem unaware or unable to assist. It’s become such a hassle that I now prefer going to Mt Roskill, Mt Wellington, or Grey Lynn instead.nnThere’s definitely been a drop in standards at the Manukau store, and today’s visit only confirmed my decision to stop coming here. I won’t be returning. I hope management takes steps to improve the store layout and overall customer experience.
