Came here for a comedy show! The place was nicely decked out and had a good atmosphere. For those who are familiar with Sydney, it felt quite like Newtown or similar. The seating was relatively comfortable and well spaced and the staff were super friendly and helpful! Parking is a bit of an issue and it fills up quickly but if you have an event here, definitely try coming early as you can find decent street parking - just be aware that the parking is a bit far from the actual powerhouse so if it’s raining, you may have to brave a bit of water!
First time visit and won't be the last. Top live venue, not too big or small. 5.6.7.8s were just amazing!
The powerhouse was my favourite venue until last night Saturday, 05 April 25.nWe arrived just after 6pm to relax with drinks and have some food before the show at 8pm, just as we did multiple times before.nThe entire ground floor area outside was closed and cordoned off for an event inside. It looked deserted with all the tables unattended in the large outside area for the whole night.nWe were directed upstairs by security. As expected the bar was overflowing and no chance to sit down or even stand at a table. As Bar Alto was fully booked there were only 5 choices from the bar menu, none of them gluten free except for the rocket salad so I had to limit my calories for the rest of the day.nMy son ordered a pizza and it took a few minutes to walk around with it until someone let us squeeze in at a standing table.nThe show was very good but we could have seen it elsewhere.nIs it worth giving an unpleasant experience to a lot of people for providing a private event so much privacy on a busy Saturday night? I hope they paid a lot for it.
The historic Brisbane Powerhouse that dates back to the 1920s is situated on Yaggera & Turrbal Country at 119 Lamington St,New Farm QLD 4005.nnThis is a wonderful public place that provides a large range of wonderful live entertainment for everyone's enjoyment.nnThis old powerhouse is situated right next to New Farm Park, which is a must-see for many activities nnThere are many varieties of entertainment, performed live by artists, such as live comedy skits & other assortment of musical art. nnThere are weekend farmers markets & a seasonal outdoor cinema, which is a fantastic family-friendly experience.nnYou can check out the website brisbanepowerhouse.orgnWiFi is also available at IBrisbane Powerhouse.nnThe Brisbane Powerhouse is open from 9.00 am. until late, 7 days a week.nnThis venue is a cashless venue, although Bar Alto & Mary Mae's Bar & Kitchen will continue to accept cash.nnWithin easy walking distance from the New Farm City Cat terminal, you can leave your car at home if you wish nnThere is paid parking available in the nearby streets, or you can park in New Farm Park, but being a public place, it pays to get there as early as possible nnSo if you are looking for something different to do, why not arrange sometime to visit & take in a live performance of music, comedy, or even a show of Q&A, which was recently shown live on ABC
Very cool place. I’m an architect and I do like so much this old industrial places refurbished and renewed in new forms. Very cool. There are various theatre rooms, not attended to any event though
