Great experience so far. I’ve mostly come on weekends and the sales staff are very helpful. Met another staff member on a weekday who was interested in talking about the makers of the violins the shop imports and was determined to share their knowledge/honest opinions on them. Wide range of violins and violin bows, plenty of time given to me to try the violins; staff offered to let me hear them play the instruments as well. I gave a price limit however staff also gave me violins out of my budget to try so I could get a better perspective of what I want/could have in terms of the qualities of an instrument. They are always asking for feedback on violins they’ve given me on approval so they can continue to improve their instruments individually. Nice to see students working there. I have not yet met the owner.

Worst experience ever with the owner of the shop! He was subtlety rude and didn’t even try to be helpful. All it matters to him was making money out of his customers!

My son accidentally dropped his violin and hence I decided to bring it over to the shop based on his teacher’s reference of that shop however the owner was very reluctant to even try because we didn’t get the violin from his shop to start with! He started by kept saying he has a busy schedule and he can’t get it fix over weekend and he charge for his time. I was prepared to pay for his time but his attitude was not pleasant to start with at all. I have always been a calm person so I offered to lease and pay for the violin while he needs the time to fix it but again, he was reluctant again and said he probably would have a customer for the violin that I want to lease for my son. I was just speechless....

In short, he commented and said I bought the violin elsewhere and I do not expect them to fix the problems of that violin that belonged to another shop! He probably didn’t thought that I could be his next customer to even purchase a totally new one for my son! 

I seriously do not think Bows For String is any good place to be at to start with such impolite manners and crude attitude.

Quirky place with stringed instrument experts.  Happily will demonstrate violins and instruments.  Hand picked, quality products only which are then carefully rebuilt by artisans.

Very comfy inside and very beautiful to look at. The staff are extremely nice! The prices are good for what you're getting and tuning (a violin at least) is completely free.
