Black Betty is a lively cafe in Christchurch City. Located opposite the main entrance of the Christchurch Polytechnic, Black Betty has a great breakfast spread and serves the city's finest Switch Espresso coffee.

Black Betty is a forward thinking cafe serving NZs finest Switch Espresso Coffee.

Black Betty is also about specialty coffee. Yes we make great espresso, but we also have a variety of different flavours to taste through coffee syphons and pour-over filter cones. We also have a new 1kg sample roaster to roast batches of microlot coffees to specific depths in order to bring out the most subtle and delicate flavours.

Such an awesome spot for a weekend breakfast or brunch. Always a bustling vibe in here, staff are high energy and lovely. But it never seems too busy they obviously have great systems in place, the wait is never long and the staff keep their cool even in the busiest times. Food is high quality and the interior design harkens back to the coolest of old Christchurch.

Absolutely gorgeous breakfast and super fast service! Ended up having the big breakfast and my word was it exactly that, everything was cooked perfectly, with good quality bread, sausages, bacon and potato gratin! Staff were very attentive and friendly. Very happy with this place and would definitely consider coming back another time.

Super cool atmosphere that’s well presented and inviting. Staff are friendly and the food was incredible and well priced, only being surpassed by the 12/10 cold drip coffee available. If you’re in the mood for a quick brunch or liquid pump up, Black Betty is a location you can’t go past!

One of our favourite places for breakfast in Christchurch! Absolutely gorgeous huge portions. Simple eggs turned into piece of art. My fav dish is Avocado smash ( today without bacon, a vegetarian option with grilled holoumi ). Amazing waffles with lemon curd, berries and ice cream!!! All dishes have great presentation and even better taste! Highly recommended!!!

Delicious breakfast/lunch food and excellent decaf coffee! Had the Pork Belly and Stacey's Stack which were both delicious. Very good at accommodating coeliac people. The coffee was superb. Well worth a visit!
