Stayed overnight and was hugely impressed by the facilities, range of activities and friendliness of the owners. Always felt that they went all out to give us the best farm and bush experience we could ask for.

Great place for kids and we loved the country activies such as a wagon ride and damper cooking. The billy tea making and damper activity does need the “ host” using a microphone. He was an older and quieter man and it was extremely hard to hear him with an Audience a 100 people strong. Just a simple mic and PA system would suffice. I held off a 5 star as I think this place needs a few stations to wash dirty plates for tent campers. We will be coming back when our baby is older.

Farmstay is an awesome experience. We are camping right on the creek bed with old school rope swings over it. Twice daily animal feeding and cow milking. Horse riding, playground, pool, antiques. Been a wonderful family holiday and everyone is so friendly and helpful.

The nature setting is fabulous! For entertainment and surrounding I will give this place a 3 star, but camping facilities is 1-2 star. Traditional, old style reception and pub. I think the reception/ country shop is meant to seem quaint but to be honest it just feels tired, outdated and cluttered with anything that seems old and neglected ( displayed in that country-style predictable way. ) Don’t get me wrong- I love country or old style nic-nacs, as long as it’s good quality and not just rusty tins. The staff were friendly enough and were quick to get us settled in. I was disappointed however when they tried to convince us that setting out tent up right next to the porta-loos would be a good camping spot. Fortunately they agreed to give me a different free lot when I said I was not happy with location. The porta-loo doors slammed though the night as everyone came in and out and we were relieved to be camping further away from the ‘bathroom’ area which was very noisy and became smelly too. The camping facilities were very disappointing. They toilets and showers are all tiny portaloo stations coupled together. This meant that almost every cubicle had bugs and spiders in it and I was worried since not of them would be snake proof either, I imagine? The most disappointing part was that there were no dish washing facilities near the ‘amenities porta-block and there were two tiny hand sinks to service all toilets that stated that dishes were not permitted to be washed there and that we would need to go to another side of camp site to wash our dishes. This was absurd to us. The best part of Bestbrook is the Damper making session which is only on a Saturday morning. I have to say - that was the highlight. It was fun to cook damper, listen to old stories of how things used to be and even the billy tea was tasty. They have a wagon trip with wip and boomerang activities which was fun and well worth attending. Many children enjoyed the horse rides and Bestbrook are also very understanding if your child changes their mind and is too scared to ride. The owners of the venue seem very down to earth and approachable but it certainly has that old country feeling. If we were to go there again I would definitely consider staying in a cabin instead because the camping conditions are 1-2 Star in my view. By morning 2 of the 5 toilets were clogged and the shower units are so small that there is no place to put your towel and clothes while you shower except on the tiniest shelf above the shower. But once you have to dry yourself it gets tricky to try and get the towel down of that teeny shelf without your dry clothes landing on the 80x80cm wet shower floor! I will give this place a 3 star because of the beautiful surrounding views, their horse rides and damper show. We ended up cutting our trip short because the camping facilities were so dismal and barely sufficient. The pool was clean and presentable but had no shade, from memory. They do have one bbq, near the pool (Which is far away from the camping area) but it looked rusty and un-useable. The cafe/pub had a very ordinary menu and pricey! I will however add that the mountain views were soul soothing and the crisp air and morning mist made it all feel worth while, regardless of the obstacles and long drive. On a positive ending, it was lovely to see how well they treated their animals though! All the animals looked healthy and happy. They had cows, pigs, peacocks, hens, horses and more. The kids seems to enjoy the animal feeding and petting experience. A perfect day trip perhaps? _________________________________________ PLEASE CLICK ‘LIKE’ if you found any part of my review useful or informative. Was camping with a group who arrived the following day. Very clearly stated we were a group and needed to be in the same area. The following day the group was directed to a different area - forcing us to have to pack down - and re-set up in the new area. When asked why this had happened the staff member who served me showed no compassion or concern for the significant inconvenience that had been experienced. He even said it 'wasn't his problem - he has 'over 3 different girls on reception'. You can hear the highway from practically every campground area - including the double semi trailers at 3am with their compression brakes engaged. Also, the 4WD track isn't graded - but should be labeled as intermediate. it has deteriorated significantly, and has many loose rocks. It's also a lot longer than 1km. Toilets & Showers were clean.
