Month of visit: December 2023nnFirst time visiting UQ Gatton and was already under the impression that there was nothing special there as some people around me told us…surprisingly it was fantastic and we really enjoyed our time there!!nnThe campus is beautiful, really shows that it is for studying agriculture, animal science and vet!nThe nature in the surroundings is lovely, especially if this is your first time and did not expect much.nnYou can use the bus from UQ if you are a student, dont forget to book your seat in advance!
I was there 88-92. I didn’t truly appreciate the skills and training I received. In 93 I moved to the US and put my skills to work. I have had a successful career. Each day is a reward for the time I spent there. For anyone who needs to hear this the education is first class . To this day I remember a few words from my graduation ceremony. They talked about perseverance. That has seen me through.nGreat place . Great education.
Unlike The St Lucia campus of UQ which is a serene and immaculate environment. The Gatton campus is like a fairyland. To reach this campus, all UQ students in St Lucia must take advantage of the free intercampus bus service. Once you arrive, you'll be greeted by the campus's stunning beauty and expansive grounds. In contrast to the bustling and busy atmosphere of St Lucia, this campus offers a tranquil and leisurely experience.nnThe campus is meticulously maintained, with well-manicured lawns, picturesque walkways, and architectural marvels that blend harmoniously with the surrounding natural landscape. As you explore the campus, you'll notice that everything here moves at a slower pace, creating an atmosphere of peace and serenity. It's an ideal setting for studying, contemplating, or simply enjoying a moment of tranquility amidst the busyness of university life.
Lake Galletly and surrounding areas is great for bird watching! So many different waterbirds. Great bird hides and tracks for walking. Easy to get to. Well maintained. We will definitely be going back.
What a wonderful 125th birthday celebration at UQ Gatton Campus or QAC Gatton as I have always known it. I took the coach tour of the entire facility with the most knowledgeable guide and it rekindled memories of my time there in the mid 1960's.nnI was only 16 when I first attended... first time away from home in Brisbane.nnAs the only boy who admitted he could play the piano, I became the Official Organist for the Sunday Church Service and because I was self taught, I played with great gusto and the visiting clergy always said after that they had never heard a bunch of boys sing with such enthusiasm!nnMy first week of Prac involved starting the afternoon shift at the college abattoir... facing a mammoth pile of heads and offal to be loaded into a large farm trailer for the pigs!!! Tough stuff for a city boy but I survived it all and look back on my time there with great memories.nnThe Long Table Lunch over three hours with nearly three hundred attendees was fabulous... met some great people and I'm so glad I attended. Top Mark's to the organizers.
