The staff are nice but the check in system was pretty bad. Last time I was forced to wait extra 1 hour after appointment time because nurses were in meeting. Today again I was waiting for 1 hour even all other dogs checked in after me, finally nurse came out and told me that someone ticked on my dog check on their system so we were completely ignored in the waiting room. I don’t want to be rude and pushy, so I am always patient for waiting but making over 1 hour due to system error is too much.
Highly recommended you go elsewhere for the sake of your pets and to avoid unnecessary expenses. I will never recommend or return to the AWL. When my cat was discharged to me she had one side of her whiskers obviously cut very short, it is a very blunt cut and I don’t understand why this was done or why no one told me, I have pictures of before I took her in to show this was not my doing but theirs. It is never necessary to cut a cats whiskers, out of all places I thought they would know this. I should’ve known not to go the instant I called and spoke to the most condescending receptionist, British accent doubting my need for an emergency appointmentover the phone and also when referring me to the vet nurse in person, asking why I haven’t gone else where and so on. You should be someone who cares about animals if you’re gonna work at a vet clinic. The blonde receptionist was absolutely lovely, can’t fault her at all. When discussing the bill with the vet before my cat underwent anything, she revealed some of the listed wasn’t even worth doing such as an X-ray because it won’t actually help us find out what is wrong, which really just feels like they’re desperate for money and their main goal isn’t to care for your pet. After I went home she was acting no different then before I took her in, she vomited from the medicine so I called back as I wanted advice, they asked me to book again to give her a different medication to which I ended up cancelling, it honestly seemed like a money grab, they were just trying to give me whatever medicine because they had no clue or even a rough idea of what could possibly be wrong with her, even after I asked.nnWent to a different vet and she ran a test I wasn’t offered at the AWL, I was also told the medicine they gave me was not necessary, they never even told me the issue but wanted to give her more medicine. Even before having the test done at this other clinic, the vet gave me very good advice and a reasoning as to why she might be acting this way, also recommended some different foods to get her eating and so on, nothing like what I received at the AWL.nWould give negative stars if I could, 1 is too generous.
We took our 5 beautiful puppies into a very busy AWL today and couldn’t believe the amazing staff who went above and beyond to take care of us . We were there for a couple of hours but Michelle on reception was patient , completely thorough and so reassuring . Couldn’t have done more to help us and sort out all our paperwork and organise our beautiful puppies . Then took the time to come and meet our beautiful puppies . Couldn’t ask for better service . Thanks Michelle & the wonderful team at AWL !
We faced a terrifying situation when our new puppy, Teddy, became critically ill due to a hookworm infestation. Our initial reliance on incorrect pet store advice and a delay in getting a vet appointment nearly had fatal consequences. In a desperate situation, with local vets demanding upfront payment we couldn’t immediately afford, we turned to the AWLQLD Gold Coast Emergency Vet Clinic.nnFrom our first call, the AWLQLD team provided calm, supportive, and knowledgeable advice. They quickly diagnosed Teddy and transparently discussed treatment options and financing without any pressure, ensuring no delay in starting his treatment. Their primary concern was clearly Teddy’s health and well-being, and they went above and beyond to support us in finding ways to fund his treatment.nnThanks to the exceptional care and dedication of the AWLQLD team, Teddy made a miraculous recovery after five days in the hospital. The daily updates from the clinic were a source of comfort, and it’s clear that they are true angels in disguise. Our experience with the AWLQLD Gold Coast Vet Clinic was nothing short of amazing, and we are forever grateful for their commitment to Teddy’s life and health.nnI highly recommend the AWLQLD Gold Coast Vet Clinic to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care. Their team’s professionalism, compassion, and excellence make them truly worth their weight in gold. Thank you, AWLQLD, for giving Teddy a second chance at life.
We visited AWLQ today with our sick dog. He has been suffering pain for over a week. We had seen a local vet in Pacific Pines and been to Emergency in Carrara. AWLQ assisted us in such a caring and efficient way. Our dog was given the correct meds and for the first time in a week we have seen him eat and drink, scratch and smile. They definitely have new customers with us, we now won't go anywhere else. Thank you AWLQ staff. From the receptionist to the vet, I can't fault you.
