The view was great from our room on the 8th floor. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s an older hotel and there was a spate of break ins at the units facing the rear car park over New Year’s Eve. Breakfast was barely ok and considering we paid over $300 per night it wasn’t good enough. Three and a half stars over all.
it wasn’t even a day and i regret booking. my room card was not registering in the elevator so we do constantly have to get the lobbyist to swipe their card. the a/c does not work, there were no fans so we left the door open all night just for cold air and even so the other residents weren’t quiet until early morning so it was difficult getting sleep. the free wifi is absolutely terrible. the fridge will barely keep things cool. the showers and bathroom are nice, the toilet placement is a little crooked. did also smell someones smoking pot not far from our room.nthe view of the esplanade is nice though.nnoverall i wouldn’t recommend this to a friend family or even a stranger.
Avoid. This place is not 4 star, its 2 star at a push. Just do yourself a favor and take it from a local - do NOT stay here. Its not just one thing is the whole vibe, just trust me. There are way better places to stay in Cairns for the same price or less.
If you're thinking of staying here, don't.nnIt looks nothing like the photos, is definitely not 4 star, smells like a urinal in the lobby, rooms smell musky, hallways smell like cannabis. Restaurant and bar never opened, bottle shop has about 4 beers in it, no wine or other drinks, carpark is filled at night with drunk people and smashing bottles- so unsafe coming back at night time, quite scary.nHousekeeping staff very friendly, other staff very ordinary. Advertised with a laundry, literally one washing machine for the whole hotel and it took me a whole wasted day to get my laundry done as it was so slow and many others using it.nBreakfast really poor food and broken coffee machine.nI have never stayed in a hotel this terrible before.
This is my second time i have stayed in 6 months and had a pleasant stay great price ,great views and including buffet breakfast its a little dated but who cares for the price i paid the staff are polite and friendly thanks Acacia hotel i will be back again Regards Tom Geelong Victoria
