We couldn't get into anywhere else in Kaikoura so had to book here.nWe were totally disappointed with our 3 night stay in a studio cabin, for the money we paid a night it is appalling.nOnly a hand basin in the room and jug, no hot water.nThe bed was ok but the room,windows were dirty and old fashioned.nHad a bar heater that went well but rusty in parts.nThe one dining chair we had was tied together at the top of each leg?nWe had no shower or toilet in our room, for $130 a night at least a toilet should be provided.nThe kitchen is badly in need of an upgrade, the toiletsonly 2 opened onto the dining room and kitchen areas. The showers had hot water in mine but my husband had a cold shower.nThere was a family feud in adjacent cabins that was terrible to listen too in bed.  Many family members were involved.  It wasn't the owner of the motels fault but they should have put a stop to it or rung the Police.nThe lady in the office was friendly on arrival.  Only 1 lot of towels for 3 nights staying.nThe motel ruined our stay in Kaikoura.nI'm sorry for such negative feedback but the price needs to be dropped in half or some serious upgrades need done.

A1 Kaikoura Motels and Holiday Park, is situated on State Highway 1, a short walk from the shops, restaurants and the beach. The downside of it's position is the road noise if you are in one of the front facing rooms, as I was. The room I had was clean and comfortable if a little dated. My only complaint was that the bedside lamps were to dim to read by. The building it's self is pretty unattractive, but who cares about things like that at $130 a night? the staff were friendly and helpful. If your expectations are not to high this is a good place to stay.

We used a powered camp site so I am not reviewing the cabins or motel rooms. The campground is definitely a money making business with little investment in updating amenities. Powered camp sites were crammed in with little space for parking vehicles. For all of the camp sites 30+, there were only two female toilets. The female ablution block was cheaply made and was joined to the kitchen/lounge without any separation behind doors. However, the showers had great pressure and were hot. We paid $70 for a powered site per night 3 people which was steep considering the state of the place. The location next to a stream and close to town were the main positives. And the staff were really friendly.

Lovely little motel and campsite. Small and narrow plots but had a dump site, water refill, bbq, wood burning stove, kitchen. Lovely very hot and powerful showers. A little expensive but seems inkeeping with the area! Would stay again.
