The park has something for everyone. You can watch sports in the weekends or try the fitness equipment around the perimeter of the park.nTwo fenced playgrounds on the Neville Street side of the park provide a range of experiences for all ages. The shaded barbecue area, seats, toilets, and drinking fountains by the playgrounds make it easy to stay for the whole day.nParking is available on the streets around the park. Pedestrians can access from Walker Road, Muripara Avenue, and Target and Neville streets.nThe park is named after the Walker family who farmed the land from the mid 1860s.nThe park has been the home ground of the Point Chevalier Rugby League Club since 1922. It has had flood lighting since April 1939. Western Springs Football Club uses the park in the winter. It is home to cricket and Point Chevalier Amateur Athletics in the summer.
Excellent fields for league. Better if there were more league fields!
Excellent place to play cricket. With four well-maintained grass pitches and fast outfields, no wonder all senior grade cricket matches are scheduled here. The pitches are always neutral, with a tinge of green grass to help the bowlers but a hard surface for consistent bounce. Good shade and places to sit and watch the cricket.
Always love revisiting my old neighborhood and watching my grandchildren at the their sports training. Before then were my children. Such a family atmosphere and like the old days, Mr. whippy turned up. Lucky children.
