We are a group of four who dined on a Sunday night. Everything we ordered was perfect! For entrées we had the French onion & short rib soup with parmesan toastie this was my favourite!, jalapeño cheese balls, and salt & pepper calamari. For mains we had the sirloin steak with chips and salad plus chimichurri sauce and the roast pumpkin salad not in photo. I would like to commend all the staff we met that evening. They all looked young but they all displayed professionalism and were friendly too. They also have a carpark and ticket validation was convenient. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back again
We arrived late in the evening only to find our booking had not been taken. Kitchen was closing but they accommodated us and made our meal memorable. Had the beef pie which was fantastic.
A great night out as always at Speights Petone. We shared the beef Koba's and wings to start, both GF. I had the Mac & cheese with pork belly wow. My wife had a fantastic Steak. Thanks folks for a great night out
Very large portions, the starters were quite filling, I would not recommend the calamari as it was quite greasy, as shown in the photos there was a puddle of oil left in the bottom of the bowl, however the wings were extremely tender and juicy.
My wife and I both ordered the same steak cooked medium-well, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The steaks came out very tough with a noticeably bitter taste, likely from being over-charred. When we raised our concern with the staff, we were told it was “normal” because the steaks were cooked on charcoal. However, no effort was made to offer a replacement or provide a proper solution.nnHaving worked in a steak restaurant myself, I understand that mistakes can happen in the kitchen, but how staff handle customer concerns is just as important as the food. In this case, the staff were not very approachable, and the manager did not handle the situation well.nnI hope the management can take this feedback positively and work on improving both food consistency and customer service, as the restaurant has potential to provide a much better dining experience.
