Fantastic food and an atmosphere reminiscent of a British pub. The staff were superb and seated us immediately in an appropriately sized table. We were a large group celebrating a life well lived, and the experience was exactly what we needed.nnThe hickory smoked barbecue wings were out of this world, the calamari perfectly cooked and the chicken and beef skewers top notch. The fries were a solid 8/10 according to my husband, crispy and very flavoursome.nnThe beer selection is epic and we also loved the delicious ginger bear.nnI couldn’t find any changes to recommend, other than to open an Inn in Palmy so we can come more often.nnWe will definitely return on our next trip to Wellington.
On the off chance they had a decent plate, we wandered in to what looks like a classic kiwi pub.nnIt was pleasantly surprising to find, no smell of a public bar on entry and a very tastefully decorated venue with a light and airy space for dining, away from the bar service area.nnThe waitress was very prompt and followed up quickly. We were in at 5pm on a Thursday and there were quite a few booked tables where we sat, but we still found great seating.nnHe had the burger and I had the beef kebabs. The chips were fresh and crisp, with great seasoning.nnI'd happily go back, it's got a very friendly comfortable vibe. The prices are reasonable on the menu and it's definitely not your typical suburban pub. It's much better than that.nnWell done Pickle Jar.
The new chef has been there a while now and the quality of the dishes and general yumminess is back up there again. As always it is the staff that make this place the great pub that it is.
Friendly local pub to keep up with the sports but also a space for a family-friendly environment for a quiet catch-up or to celebrate with your family and friends.nnAwesome daily specials. Their homemade pizza is amazing and completely worth it. A hit with adults and kids.
Hands down the best burger and wings I’ve had in Wellington, and it’s not even close. I have to ask them to hold the lettuce and sauce as the lettuce is shredded and therefore makes the mix a bit watery, which in turn causes the bun to slide all over the place, but today I just asked for cheese and ketchup, and this was the right move. I was able to taste the medium-rare chargrilled flavor to perfection.nnAbsolutely delicious. It’s a real treat when we come here for dinner. The spicy wings are equally good I ask for them to be made well done, and I hold the ranch dressing and just get the spicy sauce. Simple is best, and the results pair perfectly with my mildly manicured burger.
