When I first came here I really enjoyed the meal, but now prices have gone up but the portions seem smaller, I left still hungry after spending $35 which shouldn't be the case. Probably won't come here much anymore unless the portion sizes get bigger, the food had a nice taste, I was unimpressed by the fried chicken pieces they were dry cheap chicken drums and wings 4 pieces I thought it was going to be boneless chicken pieces. Maybe they should clarify this on the menu. The wonton soup flavour Is delicious.. just again such a small portion for a high price... I'm talking about the tomyum soup with rice and even the sweet n sour pork on rice... need to give more rice too.
The food and customer service is really good. And the window view after a long day with authentic taste food is what i really wanted. The soup is so good. And would like to visit again.
I recently had an exceptional dining experience at The Oaks. The warm and inviting atmosphere, attentive service, and delectable cuisine made it truly outstanding. From the knowledgeable waitstaff to the unique authentic dishes, each bite was a symphony of flavours. The Nasi Goreng was a revelation, combining curry in a harmonious blend. The nostalgic and charming ambiance added to the overall experience. I highly recommend The Oaks for anyone seeking a nostalgic dining experience. It's a true gem in the city. Vegetarian options: Ask the staffs and they will change for you. Kid-friendliness: big space outside. Even under the rain. Dietary restrictions: Ask the friendly staffs and they will help you out as i did.
This place hasn't changed in years. They surely could do with a coat of paint and new carpeting at least. Food was acceptable but used to be much better. I ordered sweet & sour pork and the battered pork pieces were a bit burnt, as if they were heated up in a pan before mixing with the source. I truly like this place and used to be my lunch spot back when I worked in town. Since my last visit, I might give it some time before returning, sorry.
My experiences: 1. I brought a friend who could barely stand the smell and described it as smelling like "expired grease & oil" also claiming the air felt heavy to breathe, so imagine stodgy air. So she left within 10 secs of entering. rip. 2. Deep fried chicken had it two different occasions: chicken was well cooked, but the deepfried casing was as if they took some thin plastic, deepfried it and called it day. No seasoning or if there was, it was probably just cinnamon, accompanied by sweet chilli sauce in a pottle. Good sizes however. 3. Side salad: I asked for no dressing balsamic, it was healthy which is positive, didn't feel like it had any extra negatives, seemed washed with a glisten, oxidization on the lettuce or could've been some days old, but seemed fresh. 4. Lemon Chicken: Terrible. Tasted like someone took lemon syrup and poured it on some overcooked rubber chicken, next to some rice and called it a day. $18.90 well spent. 5. Mee Goreng this was another time I went there: Again, pretty terrible. Felt fake tasting, as if they added curry powder, salt & cumin and called it a day. Portion size was decent, please don't order it. Pros: -Staff were incredibly lovely & considerate -Had a bathroom -Was quite quiet -Seemed cheap get what you pay for -Neat location -They seemed flexible to what you dietary needs may be Vegetarian options: Just gave you options for it. Dietary restrictions: Just gave you options for it.
excellent place yum yum yum. nice and affordable, perfect for the day before payday. exactly what i want from a fast food placeFood: 5/5
Pretty simple place, but excellent food. Go there for some authentic taste. Open all day, unlike restaurants which you'll struggle to find between 2-6 pm. Parking: Bond St parking is the closest, otherwise paid street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs up to the noodle house. Not wheelchair accessible.
Customer service was alright. Definitely good for a cheap quick dinner, not for the fancy night outs. Food was your fairly average Asian cuisine. The Singaporean noodles were ok. Pretty filling. Laksa was slightly above average definitely have had better. Mi goreng was fairly average. Spring rolls I think was the highlight lol. Fried chicken - nope. Just no. Too dry and no flavour.
Some of the cheapest food in town and really tasty too. It would be nice if they labelled which dishes they can make vegan, but they can make many of them vegan for you
Food and customer services is very good. The place is opening later than other restaurants in the area, which made it an excellent choice for an easy late lunch. We tried some satay noodle soup and a curry, both dishes were good.
