The Esplanade Motel & Conference Centre

Great stay for two nights with awesome hosts, comfortable bed, and close to the Esplanade walkway for some exercise. It mightn't be the latest decor but definitely comfortable and affordable, with nice features such as plenty of shelf space in the bathroom for guests' toiletries etc. Although it's on a very busy road, my unit was super-quiet, and despite the fact the whole motel appeared to be full both nights, there was no noise at all from other guests. I'll definitely be back.

Stayed here while doing the Tour Aotearoa cycling route, they have special rates for cyclists, allow you to store your bike in the conference centre, there's a laundry you can use on site, and even let us use their car to get into town to pick up supplies. Unbelievably good service. Large rooms, even if they're a bit older looking, the furniture is not modern but the chairs are still good for sitting on. If you're on a TA cycle trip this is your spot, it's just off the route and the rate is excellent. There's also a good cafe a short walk away.

Stayed for only one night, but it was great for what we needed. I was greeted by a lovely, friendly man. The rooms were warm and comfy. Very happy.

My experience was one of kindness. I had booked a room without checking if there was air con as this is a high need for me. I have crippling hot flushes especially at night. The day had been very hot and upon entering the room in the evening it was too warm for me to sleep.nnI had booked for two nights and I did not expect a refund because of the effort required to get the room ready and the loss of being able to book the room again. But the wonderful staff were very kind in refunding me one night even though it is understandably not the motels policy. They did not need to do that. I am very appreciative of the kindness. I know it’s not easy running a motel business so I have full respect for the owners. Thank you.

I had a rider left their room key in my car. When I found out I called the rider and I offered to drop the key off to the motel reception. Once I was at the reception the guy un professional manager said oh you got the key. I said yes I am dropping it off as rider left it in car. I asked if I can take a photo of the key on the reception so I can send it to ride company. The guy chucked the key on my face said take the photo. I said it's very rude that you threw the key on me. He said its my property and you are on it. I simply said you should be thankful that I am coming all the way to drop off the key. He said in response that he is not thankful that I am dropping it off. Very unprofessional and rude behaviour not sure how he runs the motel. Management should look into it. He has alot of negative reviews here about his behaviour but obviously company is not worried about his behaviour.nEveryone should read the reviews and then book this property. Alot of negativity he has.
