"The Dorothy Butler Children's Bookshop is a much-loved Auckland institution which was started by Dorothy in the 1960s.In 2015 the shop was bought by us, sisters Mary and Helen Wadsworth. Books have been a big part of our lives and we are excited to be part of the great community of people that encourage children and young people to read.We want our shop to be a place of delight for anyone who enters. We hope you feel welcome when you come to browse or buy. We and our book-loving staff are very happy to help you find the right book or gift for your child. .As well as a wide range of great quality books for babies to teens, we stock puzzles, games and toys."

LOVE this bookstore. Best children's bookstore in Auckland - especially for board books for babies and book/art related toys. They have a train table out and wooden toys that my baby loves to play with. People here are so friendly. We always come here on rainy days and leave with lots of new books.
I have found the best children's bookshop at the other end of the world! I'm a writer living in London with my granddaughters living in Grey Lynn, Auckland, and can now give them an endless supply of book presents galore! Thank you Dorothy Butler Children's Bookshop.

I haven't been to this book shop for years. My little girl is now 23 but I can see that it is still amazing. Instilling a love of reading from an early age is so important for your child's future development and this children's bookshop is the absolute best place for doing this. You and your kids will love it!!
What a beautiful book shop this is, it’s so colourful and exciting with so many different books and games for tamariki of all ages! Lovely friendly staff as well :
If you are looking for a place to take the children to buy books then this is a must go shop. A great selection of New Zealand authors. Recent visit had a fabulous selection for Matariki.
Awesome or should say the best place to get kids books
This book shop is just magical. I could honestly spend hours in here. There are toys for your little ones while you browse, a section for board books, NZ Authors, recent releases and staff picks etc. The staff are super helpful and you can tell they love children's books. If you are searching for books as gifts, or a few more sneaky books on your kids' shelves that you will enjoy reading to them, definitely head in!
