Disgusting. Almost definitely a bed bug infestation. The building smelt like sweat. Our room looked like a converted toilet block/storage shed. We booked a double room and found two mismatched single beds, when we asked about this we were told to push the beds together. The two single sized sheets and duvets we were given were ripped and falling apart. My partner was covered in bed bug bites the next day. There was no hot water in the bathrooms and no power in the kitchen. The toilets and showers had not been cleaned in a long time. The fridges had puddles of rank liquid in the bottom. The balcony looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. When we checked out, we never got the $20 key deposit back. My partner and I have travelled a lot and this is the worst backpackers we have ever stayed in. DO NOT stay here.

Absolutely disgusting. Do NOT stay here. Place smelt like stake beer. Men's bathroom was vile....toilets had not been cleaned in god knows when. Laundry facility room gave the impression that it could ignite at any point due to poor dryer venting and piles of lint. Over all the place was very dirty. Bed uncomfortable had one of the "tiny" single rooms. The place was party central, so noisy and loud. How this place has got some of the reviews it has is beyond me. I booked due to reading some of these totally incorrect reviews. Do your diligence and find elsewhere to stay. There are several other places in the city of Auckland. Unfortunately I stayed the 1 night thank god I didn't book more - I would have cancelled and the only reason for that was timing. I have stayed in several hostels in several cities....and this one was one of the worst. Was not expecting 4 star, but this place did not equate to even 2 star! One staff member was very considerate and helpful... that is about the only positive thing I can say about Cozy Kiwi.

I don't recommend this backpackers, the ceiling is pouring water when raining, and the floor is very dirty. People were not friendly, and even sometimes rude. What is unbelievable is that someone stolen my socks and also other electronic stuffs.
