Selwyn Reserve (Mission Bay)

Drove from deep South Auckland to take my pooch for a night walk.... Thought it would be safe and pretty. Pretty it was! Most definitely A LOVELY spot.... But got harassed by a group of teenagers - literally went out of their way to terrorise my dog and crept up on me after I had walked past. Honestly, the teens are better behaved in the tougher parts of Auckland! I left, not sure what they were on, but it was truly unpleasant.

A free feel Beach with lots of cafes and food joints. Clean sand, but with lots of sea shells. Public toilets available.

Fabulous grass area, beach, trendy restaurants and people.

Selwyn Reserve is one of my favourite places in Auckland. It’s beautifully maintained, right across from the beach, and ideal for a picnic or a relaxed afternoon with family or friends. The open grassy areas are great for kids to run around, and there’s always a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.nnThe views of Rangitoto Island from here are just stunning, especially around sunset. There are plenty of benches, and the palm trees give it a nice, tropical vibe. Being so close to the cafés and eateries at Mission Bay is also a huge bonus—grab an ice cream or coffee and enjoy the sea breeze.nnPerfect for a weekend stroll, a family day out, or just some solo time in nature. Highly recommend!
