I went on a Thursday night for the $18 steak deal. Was yummy and worth coming for this deal on a Thursday. The dessert was very yummy, only negative was cookie on the side was slightly stale so didn't eat that. Overall good food and lovely staff.
Went in for lunch, ordered 2x kids meals mini hot dogs and nuggetswhich came with 2x mini hot dogs and 5 nuggets, 2x loaded wedges and a burger. The kids meals were smaller than what would be expected for kids size and came with a surprise side salad, which had some kind of dressing that leaked over the plate and onto the nuggets. Surprisingly the kids didn’t eat those. The chips were so over cooked that most of them were see through, the potato replaced with grease, totally inedible for toddlers. The burger patty was overcooked to the point it was charred black, dry and stiff as a board. The loaded wedges themselves could’ve been salvageable if it weren’t for the 2 intact pieces of flaccid streaky bacon slapped on top, stinking of old grease which seeped down into the wedges, tainting the entire dish. Everything was tainted with the taste and smell of old oil and grease. For food that is clearly been frozen at some point in the near past it was shockingly bad, never mind the price point which screamed “this food is so expensive it better be bloody delicious”. 10/10 would not recommend. Ever. To anyone. Pictures show the amount of chips left after the grease sticks had been removed.
DO NOT BOOK FOR FUNCTIONS!!nA review has already been made for the engagement party I attended yesterday so I will primarily address venue’s response.nn1. The venue lied that the event was booked for 40 people - it was not. It was booked for “around 60 people” which the venue confirmed and 65 attended.nn2. “Some members of the group were intoxicated”. If this occurs in ANY semi acceptable venue the individual would not be served further alcohol or they would be asked to leave. Instead, the manager advised that bar service was ceased immediately for ALL patrons. I highly doubt any individual was able to get intoxicated - the wait time at the bar was 15 to 20 minutes.nn3. “We have some limitations with serving alcohol without food”. I note that a significant volume of food was paid for in advance and this is a RESTAURANT where additional food is supposed to be available for purchase. Furthermore, the food was put out extremely late when it was requested to be served at specific times.nnThe venue itself is run down and dirty. The photos on the website are old.nThe staff were generally incompetent and the bar staff’s attitude was rude and unwelcoming.nTERRIBLE management - I cannot stress this enough! Heavily understaffed, poor time management and clearly did not bother to read the email stating that the booking was for around 60 people.nThe venue was not set up as it was supposed to be. On arrival, no one was even at the restaurant. Myself and two other guests had to remove the tables and chairs and put them downstairs.nnNote to management:nRead your reviews. Read your emails. Don’t respond to reviews with lies.nThere is no excuse for ruining an engagement party, which is a once in a lifetime event, because of your severe incompetence and unprofessionalism.nI have no idea how or why this place is still open. For the love of god, please get new management or sell this restaurant to someone who can actually operate it because the venue itself has potential.
We hosted our Christmas party at *Salt and Pier Restaurant* last week, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. The staff were incredibly attentive and provided great service, and all the food was delicious. Everything was well-timed and smoothly handled.nnThe event was truly memorable and wonderfully arranged.nA big thank you to Salt and Pier for making our celebration special
RUINED OUR ENGAGEMENT PARTYnnSalt on the Pier ruined our once-in-a-lifetime event — our engagement party.nManagement were disorganised from the start.nnTheir responses to reviews that other people have now made about my event are copy-and-paste, contradictory and LIES.nnFrom the moment we arrived it was a disaster.n* When we entered to set up, a staff member was asleep on the couch.n* I had requested beforehand that most tables and some chairs be removed. This was ignored, and we had to move them ourselves which is unacceptable.n* The woman working the bar was the most unwelcoming person I’ve ever seen work in front of house — multiple guests commented on this without me even mentioning it.n* The bathrooms were vile.n* The food prepaid for was not served at the agreed time although the food itself tasted good — the only positive part of the night.nnThis is where it gets even worse.nMy event was booked from 4pm to 11pm. At 7:15pm, staff informed us that alcohol officers had supposedly reported intoxicated guests, and instead of addressing specific individuals like they should, the venue chose to shut down the entire bar for all patrons.nThey also tried to claim it was a capacity issue.nThey insisted there were 80 people present — we counted 65. They also claimed the booking was only for 40 people, which is both untrue and irrelevant. Their own website and emails clearly state a capacity of 80 seated and 120 standing. I told them I expected around 60 guests but was only ordering canapés for 40, since additional food was available for purchase because it is a RESTAURANT — some hot chips were bought for my son before the canapés were out so we know food was available to purchase.nnAfter an unproductive argument in the kitchen with staff and the owner, my fiancé and I decided there was no point continuing. We left and chose not to pay the bar tab due to the unacceptable service and the venue’s handling of the situation. I stand by that decision and won’t be giving them a cent of the $1000 bar tab that we left because they completely ruined our engagement party and was a horrible experience.nnAs to their comment about us taking the food away with us when we left on some of the other reviews made by guests of my event, of course I’m going take it? I paid for it and they were only going to throw it out anyway!nnIn hindsight, I should have paid more attention to their already trashed reputation on Facebook and Google reviews.nnI hope they hand over the business to someone that actually knows what they’re doing because it’s a shame for such a good location.
