Salt On The Pier

Thought I would take the wife for a romantic meal overlooking the sea and the pier. The food was ok, but the windows couldn't be seen out of. Was a bit disappointed. I may as well have been in town looking at a wall. We went for a wander down the pier after, and that was nice.

The service was commendable, with the staff being attentive and accommodating.nnTo conclude, while the dry lamb shank was a hiccup in our experience, the excellent beef steak, flavorful salmon, and the attentive service compensate for it. Salt on the Pier remains a worthwhile dining destination in Christchurch, offering a variety of delicious options in a pleasant setting.

Three of us for lunch. I had the catch of the day Dori on a risotto. It was fresh, tasty and delicious. The others had a full breakfast and pancakes. The pancakes were light and delicious and certainly you could taste the blueberries and bananas. Full breakfast was very good. We sat outside and the table area was a bit unloved looking but great views of the pier and beach. I would definitely go back.

Super surprised at the quality of the food. Salt and Pepper Calamari was light and flavourful, fried perfectly. Ditto with the Peri Peri Chicken. Crumbed and seasoned beautifully and rhe chicken was perfectly cooked. The side salads had a beautiful mint and sweet dressing that was so refreshing, I actually wanted more salad, and that never happens. Top service to boot, great little café. Won't be my last visit that's for sure.

Pros: Great Service & Food.nCons: Quite Warm in the restaurant, not sure if there was just no cooling on or if there was none at all. The Desserts looked great but were slightly underwhelming in taste. However we enjoyed the starters, mains & overall experience so would go back.
