Delayed review from 2024 went to get groceries then paid for them & then checkout manager Richell who is Indian ethnicity asked to check my bag. I asked for the supermarket bag policy & she was not able to provide me with the information & then she mocked me & racially profiled me by making derogatory comments towards me. Then she said she didn't need to check my bag. Sahil a male produce manager I asked to speak with he was nice & apologized for his colleagues behaviour. Another female employee also apologized for her managers behavior. This same employee on their break & knowing I was at the library she came & apologized again & advised me that several staff had left due to the toxic working environment & poor management of Richell the checkout manager & she wanted to resign too but needed to find another job. I spoke with Jassie Parmar the store manager at the time that also didn't give good customer service by phone as I was considering making a formal complaint. But I rarely shop at this supermarket so decided not to waste my energy. This delayed review is because I finally have time to submit it. All the other New World's in Hamilton are algood this supermarket is the worst New World in Hamilton.
Staff are super lovely especially the check out operators. Shelves are stocked and presentable. Think this new world would benefit with a little self check out if us people who are purchasing less then 5 items could use as there fast checkout is barely open
Every time I come in, no matter what day or time, the line at the checkouts is long and moves slowly. They usually only have two people on even though there are enough checkout lanes for way more. The staff look exhausted trying to keep up, and they end up dealing with frustrated customers when it’s not even their fault. It just comes across as really poor management.

What's up with there bag checking policy I will politely decline the ladies if they want to check my bag cause what are you checking for my money aye
