My doctor is very good. However the reception staff are very poor. Recently I was waiting for some overdue, special lab test results not just blood test and had a specific reason for wanting to get them. I went into the centre and explained all this to a receptionist and asked if they had them and could I see them. She was very offhand, no welcoming smile and typing something else on her computer while talking to me. She and said they didn’t have the results and they wouldn’t come to them anyway - I would be notified directly by the lab. She said the lab had an 0800 number and I would have to ring that. So I went home, rang the lab - and they said the results had been sent to the medical centre. I went back to the centre and saw a different receptionist. She quickly searched and said they were there and gave me a copy. I am not impressed.

Money grabbers.nnI’ve lived with chronic illness for years and the level of care I’ve received from this practice has consistently been disappointing.nAs of 1 February, the government allowed 12-month prescriptions for people on long-term medications. I’ve had asthma since childhood and my condition is stable and well managed, so when I requested my repeat prescription I asked for a 12-month script.nnInstead, I was given only 3 months and told I was “due for an asthma review.” The problem is I already had an asthma review late last year, and nothing about my condition has changed since then.nnThis week I was hospitalised twice for shortness of breath, which turned out to be a side effect of a new medication prescribed by a specialist. That information was already in my file and was explained to the practice. If anyone had actually reviewed my notes, it would have been clear this wasn’t an asthma control issue.nnDespite that, they still insisted I needed to come in and pay for another asthma review.nThis isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this kind of thing here. There seems to be a recurring push for appointments that don’t appear medically necessary, which leaves patients wondering whether it’s about healthcare or billing.nnPatients with chronic illnesses deserve doctors who read their files, listen to what they’re telling them, and don’t create unnecessary barriers to accessing the medications they’ve been stable on for yearsnnIf you are a chronic illness sufferer ess sufferer or seeking diagnosis I strongly urge you to walk away from this practice!

Do not expect to see a doctor until at-least 30 minutes after the time you have booked your appointment for. Do expect your doctor to Google your symptoms in front of you and then proceed to read said results to you because they were not educated on your disease.nnAs someone else said in their review, I dread coming to this place. The staff are not the friendliest, the wait times are dreadful, the doctors some do not seem to have any care for their patients and glass over results like they are nothing, when the results are questioned and bought to their attention, only then something is done about it. I have experienced not being listened to or heard by the doctors and the lack of empathy and understanding is quite concerning.nnI will not be coming back.

I have been coming tonMairangi medical for some years. The staff is always pleasant and my doctor, Dr Lentini is excellent. When my husband was very ill and was unable to come to the surgerynDr Lentini, an excellent doctor visited him at home. I have continued to come to the clinic and have received the same excellent treatment from him.

I really appreciate the kindness I receive from all the staff at Mairangi Medical Centre. Every visit has been filled with genuine care and comfort, even when I’m dealing with something personally distressing. I’ve been seen by several different doctors here, and I can confidently say I’ve always been given thoughtful, thorough, and professional medical care. The team listens, makes me feel safe, and never rushes me. Thank you to everyone at MMC for consistently providing such a supportive environment, it truly makes a difference.
