Really disgusting place, if foodstuffs are dropped on the floor, they just pick it up and cook it away. Fish not sold are stored in a huge freezer for the next day - definitely not fresh. The only good thing about this place is the Beef Bacon and Cheese pattie BBC - they clearly didn’t see a problem naming it that! which is surprisingly delicious. Otherwise, food safety and cleanliness is not taken seriously enough here.

Love this place, a great local business that sells fresh fish and chips. Very affordable and great value with friendly service.Food: 5/5

Wow should have read the reviews before buying from this place. They are not wrong. Over cooked everything. Got the sweet sour chicken. Not worth the price for the size of it. Overall will not buy from this place ever again. Dodged out about the chicken dish now.Food: 1/5

Alright fish and chips. BAD Chinese takeaways!!!!!!! I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, what I got was a chicken burger patty on rice. Outraged is an understatement. Didn’t take a photo as it got binned immediately.

21 March 2023 My first time at Ilam Seafoods and they get a rating of 1. It was terrible but ate what I could for $8.00 before turfing it. Never again! I go to one in the Chinatown Riccarton and I rate them a 8/9.

There oil had not been changed in awhile and chips were not good. The sol was nice but please change your cooking oil more frequently

Friendly service .The fish was questionable so we threw it out rather than risking eating it, chips also were not nice. Waste of money. Wouldn't go back. Old oil and old fish. I don't recommend this fish and chip shop.

New owners and found staff rude. Signs about checking order and buyers fault very off putting. Good fish in cabinet. Was better service when students worked here. Parking tricky. Better manners and sign removal suggested.

Friendly service but the food was rubbish I'm afraid. Chips, hotdogs, chicken nuggets - all way over cooked. I took one bite of my fish burger and almost threw up. The fish was old and mushy and actually stunk. Not a fishy smell, actual rotten fish smell.
