Fendalton Library is one of those rare gems in Christchurch where you can go to do absolutely nothing—and feel great about it. Tucked away in a leafy, peaceful neighborhood, it offers a calm, cozy environment that’s perfect for slowing down. Whether you’re reading, daydreaming, or just zoning out, the space feels welcoming and unhurried.nnThe lighting is soft, natural, and never harsh. There are big windows with views of trees gently swaying outside, and the seating areas—especially the comfy chairs near the back—are ideal for relaxing undisturbed. The best part? It’s incredibly quiet. Unlike a cafe, there’s no loud chatter or clinking cups, and unlike home, there are no distractions or chores looming over you.nnIt’s not just about books here. It’s about the atmosphere. People respect the hush. Staff are friendly but not intrusive. You can bring your laptop, a notebook, or absolutely nothing, and still feel at home.nnWhether you’re escaping a busy day, waiting out the weather, or just need a place to sit and breathe, Fendalton Library is a top-tier chill zone. Sometimes, doing nothing is exactly what we need—and this place gets that.
Modern library with a huge collection of books and facilities for children and adults. Plenty of seating areas are available, and spending time here has become my weekly needs. I usually come here to work on my studies because the facility here is more than enough as an alternative to a busy university library. The staff are friendly and helpful, although more smiles from them are needed. There is also plenty of parking spaces available outside the library for those who come with a car.
This library is nearly perfect in terms of staff helpfulness and facilities. However, the noise level can be quite concerning — during busy hours, there are often people talking and even shouting. I hope this issue can be better managed.
Fendalton library is great for kids with the very popular big seat inside and also a playground right across the carpark!nnThis library has a lot of good resources, and is a really good size which makes it more likely to get a good spot to study. Lots of plugs along the window desks however these are not the most comfortable seats. Staff is friendly and helpful and there is always a lot of parking either in the car park or on the street.
Went to library for some worknWell experience staffs and good communication . Very well infrastructure neat and tidy upnGreat car parking space available too
