Stayed here 2 nights in a camper, with 3 n 4yo grandchildren. Fantastic stay, kids loved it. Play facilities great. All other facilities exceptional n all v clean, grounds too.. Staff delightful. Hot tub an enjoyed surprise, with discount as staying on site. Superb location, scenic lake outlook, we went into Queenstown by bus and back by water taxi, stops a pleasant stroll away along the lakeside. Highly recommended
Driftaway Queenstown exceeded my expectations! I was camping on a cold night and a staff member went out of her way to provide blankets for me from her own home down the road!. The facilities were warm, modern and thoughtful, including charging ports around the dining area. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here for a scenic stay by the lake.
We stayed 3nights with a tent and had an amazing stay. Best holiday park so far in our trip, and it would be very difficult to beat. We had a good grassy site, albeit on the small side and close to eachother, but that seems to be the gener norm in new Zealand anyway. Facilities are brand new and top class: amazing kitchen and eating area views are superb, great bathrooms and showers.
Driftaway is a family friendly hub with all the basic necessities you need if you're camping, in a cabin or self-contained. Overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the reserve is a bonus makes it a homey place to stay. Wonderful location, accessible to many shops, Snap fitness gym and Kmart.nWith a slight hiccups when someone took our parking spot knowing you only get one parking spot but the reception lady was able to sort it out swiftly. The bed is comfortable I was able to sleep well the first night. With basic kitchen facilities in your own room, a big fridge, a well working internet speed, smart tv and panel wall heaters makes the room comfortable.nI will definitely stay again to Driftaway if I will return to Queenstown.nCleaners need to look up and clean the ceiling at the women's bathroom, plenty of black moulds resulting to poor exhaust when the steam from all the showers working all at the same time, the condensation is sticking to the ceiling and dripping to the floors.
We had a campervan and had the most beautiful spot overlooking the lake. The facilities are five star. We didn’t use the cooking facilities on site but could see they were of a high standard and getting well used by other residents. The staff were happy and helpful. There is big local bar only minutes from the site if you fancy a night off from cooking and other restaurants/fast food places only a 5 minute walk. We loved the water taxi in to town, try and catch it back too. There was two of us and a taxi cost $40 back, rip off next day we got an Uber $25 so be careful when getting taxis. We also jumped the local bus, a really cheap alternative to get in to town. Think it was $5 each Highlight of our Driftaway trip was the hot tub! We had been canyoning all morning and every muscle hurt, so to sit in a hot bath, with a cold drink looking out over the lake was delightful.
