Nice large, spacious gym. Its a shame there isn't a larger cardio section with jump ropes, resistance bands etc. Bathrooms are clean. Only 2 water fountains available and one 1 side of the gym! When staff are there, they aren't very helpful. But its affordable, most of the time clean and good variety of machines although a few are always under repair.
This is a great gym but it’s getting rapidly ruined by zero gym etiquette. Not sure if it’s new gym goers but the amount of weight machines being slammed every rep is punishing even with headphones in. Also people not wiping down equipment after use is just gross at least half the punter don’t bother. Come on city fitness this so such an easy fix, surely you can hear the weights getting slammed all over the shop?!
Why did one of your trainers from the palms get a man kicked out whilst he was working out? He was getting sworn at, pushed, and then got kicked out for no reason!!!! Definitely won’t be coming back to this gym and I’ll be letting all my gym friends not to go back either. Disgusting behaviour. Do better!
Editing this review due to some disappointing circumstances. This gym is not wheelchair accessible. It has disabled bathrooms and spaces. However, if you are like me and prefer to go to the gym after hours, you will be unable to as the after-hours enterence is a spinning gate and your mobility equipment will not fit through, after speaking to someone associated with the gym I was told I could change gym location or cancel my membership. The whole reason I joined this gym was its convenient location. It seems there will be no added accessible entrance for after-hours cousmters any time soon. I recommend asking for a tour during staffed hours to see if this gym is suitable for your needs. Staffed hours are listed on their website.nLarge gym, it has 2 levels with so many different activities. i recommend you read all of these on their website. it's often packed as it's In a popular area in chch, the times I've found to be packed are 11am to 12:30pm and 4:30pm to 7:30pm. I have had issues with the after-hours door not letting me in, which is frustrating when you are paying good money for the premium tag. When this has happened, I've gone through the main entrance, and someone lets me in as I'm not a stranger to those who frequent this gym. I've also noticed that sometimes the guest access can bug out, and you'll have to take the visitor through the main entrance. The machines are well spaced, and the bathrooms/locker rooms are always clean and tidy. The mats are a bit gross. However, you should take it upon yourself to clean the equipment before and after use. If you are planning on using the lockers, use a lock as it is not the staffs responsibility to babysit your stuff. Parking has never been a problem as the mall parking lot is always open. The massage chairs are lovely, I recommend giving them a go after your workout, especially if you are going late at night, it's a good way to unwind before going home. There are classes of all kinds here, there is really something for everyone. I recommend this gym if you are in the area as it is suitable for able-bodied people's needs.
So after 7 years at Snap Fitness, I switched things up and tried City Fitness Palms. Let me tell you, it's huge! Tons of space, everything's clean and sparkly, and the machines are mostly super cool. Like, fancy weight stuff, all organized and shiny.nnBut here's the thing: the cardio area isn't as fancy. The treadmills, bikes, and cross trainers machines, they're good, but not the newest models like some other gyms have. And there's only two stair machines, so be prepared to wait your turn if you like those.nnAnother thing, sometimes when it gets crowded, the air gets a bit thick. Not the worst, but not exactly refreshing.nnThe good news? Bathrooms and changing rooms are awesome - big, clean, plenty of lockers. Just one big problem: only two water fountains, and they're on one side of the gym. So if you need a refill mid-workout, better leave your towel on your machine or someone might steal your spot!
