A must visit in New Plymouth for breakfast lunch or in between. I had the burrito and it was delicious; lots of flavour and a healthy portion. Coffee was great, as was the juice. Have just enjoyed brunch and a coffee here and I cannot say how much I loved my meal! I had the “Toast with the Most” topped with a poached egg and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee was also made perfectly, I haven’t dined in here for years and I will definitely be back - this might just be my new favourite!
Popped in over lunch for warm cheese scones, latte and tea. The staff member who served us was disinterested, rude and dismissive. Said we would have to wait for 10 min for a table. All fine so we asked for a takeaway instead. Coffee arrived cold and on opening our cheese scones, found they were stale and had not been warmed. Totally disappointing experience. Follow-up The owner, Elle, contacted me shortly after my review to ask for some feedback and I was remiss in not getting back to her. I appreciated this prompt follow-up and should have been more active, but life and business, got in the way. As such, my wife and I decided to give Chaos another try and had a tasteful, leisurely and well presented lunch. My wife loved the presentation of tea in a funky tea pot and milk jug! Staff were friendly, helpful in recommendations and quick in providing our meal. Amended my review from a 1 to a 5 as could not fault Chaos on our second try !
A friendly, slightly funky place. Really great staff. Great coffee amd food, with sparkling water on tap. A must visit for brunch when in New Plymouth
This cafe is charming, arty, has delicious fresh food and friendly staff. I ordered cappuccino, a small fresh cake and a toastie and everything came beautifully done, fresh and yummy. It's also cheaper than most cafes in NZ. Highly recommended!

Drawn in to Chaos by happy chatter / good music. Once inside we were both felt relaxed with the funky / energetic vibe. Offerings in cabinet looked delish...I ordered Cuban lamb cigar and I was not disappointed... coffee was great. Very attentive staff and loved that when we asked if they could help us out with meter coins it was no bother. Would call again when in the Naki.
Had a stressed guy serve me at the counter and the place had a few flies in the cafe. Had eggs and bacon bene which was ok and edible and had a drink called summer sun which I had a couple of sips of but I think it would have been nicer with ice as it was warm and pulpy. Lovely waitress that served us tho.Food: 3/5
Pretty good! We visited with our 2yo late morning, on our first day settling into our Taranaki holiday. Excellent food and iced coffees! Steaming hot in! odd service/very relaxed.. though you were super busy! Great for our daughter, she loved the activity pack which are available at the counter. Fab! Vegetarian options: Yes Kid-friendliness: Roomy, relaxed - kids activity pack available!
Love Chaos cafe, the smells of the kai, the music playing and the service is great. Rate it and recommend it. Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian options in the cabinet and they offer alternative milks for coffee. Wheelchair accessibility: Has a low ramp access to get in the door and low table options.
