Visited Birdies kitchen for the first time after seeing a lot of advertising on Facebook. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, as it is part of the South Devon Railway in Buckfastleigh there's lots to see and do. I had a half steam english breakfast and the scrambled eggs were delicious and the breakfast was reasonably priced. There is also an amazing model shop on the side, which is great to look at, I definitely will be returning in the future to try some of there other great food on there large menu.
WOW, what a lovely experience to visit for breakfast today. It was busy but my superb breakfast arrived beautifully cooked and presented within 10 minutes of ordering. Even my coffee was still warm! Which is a pleasant novelty compared to many establishments. Any previous criticisms are now definitely past history, following an incredible makeover and revamp. Can't recommend enough, well done to the owners and staf.
Fabulous place! Had a makeover and is looking fantastic! Amazing food and really friendly hosts Birdie and Jonathan! You can't come to the railway without visiting Birdie's kitchen! A selection of locally made gifts too! Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free and dairy free options
A huge variety of food, cake and hot drinks. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Good amount of entertainment for the small human, especially with a model shop attached next door. We had the carrot cake which had avocado in. Yum. Good coffee too!
A very early put stop for us on our way to a funeral in Plymouth in absolutely pouring rain. Hot drinks and some sausage and bacon baps set us up for the next stage of our journey. Plenty of filling in the baps and they were warmed through for us while we waited. Good natured and friendly staff prepared to have a joke with you! Very glad we opted for here, not the golden arches a couple of miles up the road. I have pinned it on Google maps so I don't need to look for it next time. If there is a negative comment it is the fact there were only two accessible disabled bays, the other two made inoperative as a ramp had been put over them. The main car park is quite a hike from the café and shop. Hopefully this will be sorted before we return in a month or so. Hence only 4 stars. Parking: See main comment.
Jay Jay and gabs were lovely today when we visited. Great ice cream and food! P.s enjoy little mermaid ‍
Glad to have found this place as the train doesn't run very frequently, and the Cafe at the Otter Sanctuary was closed. Decent selection of food + drinks in fairness. Little run-down, but not too bad. Soap pumps in the Gents weren't working so marked down a star.
Terrible service and food availability. Teenage staff that looked like they didn’t want to be there, didn’t know what things were on the menu and basically had no idea what they were doing, l heard one girl ask how to make a milkshake!! I felt embarrassed that we still have places like this in prime tourist locations that clearly aren’t managed or run properly. It fortunately didn’t spoil our ‘Day out with Thomas the Tank engine’ but my advice would be to BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH!
Amazing cafe! Super friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely visit again.Recommended dishesBacon or Sausage BAP
Lovely staff , good food worth a visit. Thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday. Can recommend the carrot cake.
