Cafe Villa in Ngaio positions itself as a community hub, and it definitely delivers on that front. It’s a place where families feel comfortable, and it seems to be a popular spot for locals to connect. The staff are undeniably friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome from the moment you step inside.nnThe cafe itself is, well, functional. The interior design is very basic, leaning towards clean and perhaps a little too minimalist for my personal taste. It's not somewhere you'd go for a visually inspiring experience. However, this simplicity contributes to the casual, laid-back vibe they're clearly aiming for.nnIn terms of the food and drink, Cafe Villa offers a solid, dependable experience. Their menu, described on their site as an extensive blackboard menu, provides a good range of breakfast, brunch, lunch, and snack options, as well as cabinet offerings of homemade cakes and sandwiches. The coffee, sourced from Supreme, is good quality and the food is satisfying, though nothing really stood out as particularly memorable or unique. It’s the kind of fare you know you'll enjoy without being wowed.nnOne pleasant surprise was the ample parking available. There’s a surprisingly large car park tucked away at the back, as well as outdoor seating at both the front and rear of the cafe, providing options for different weather and preferences. This is a real bonus, especially for families with young children.nnCafe Villa is a reliable community-focused cafe in Ngaio. It may not be the place to go for a cutting-edge culinary experience, but it’s a solid local option for a decent coffee, a satisfying bite to eat, and a welcoming atmosphere. It's a place where you'll feel comfortable, especially if you're looking for a family-friendly spot or a place to connect with your neighbours.nnThe ample parking and outdoor seating are definite pluses. If you're in Ngaio and looking for a straightforward, fuss-free cafe, Cafe Villa is worth checking out.
Lovely cafe that made a drizzly Wellington day brighter.nn** Food and drink **nI had the plant-based burger which was loaded with beetroot and delicious caramelised onions and cheese. The patty had a really great meat texture, but just an unusual not-meaty flavour. It was very close to being perfect. I also went for an oat milk flat white and a generously sized carrot cake. Everything was so good I was too busy eating to take photos.nn** Service & vibe **nFriendly staff. Friendly vibe. It was relaxing. There were cute dogs brought in by customers.nnWould absolutely go back.
Used to eat here many years ago, the food has always been very good as it was today. The staff are fun and friendly. The cafe seemed familiar as the decor is the same as in 1998! The latte was excellent as was the smashed Avocado on toast.
As of the second week of January 2025 the cafe is back in full operation. From what I see, there's ongoing changes being introduced by the new owners not only in the environment, but also food options...
