This was an amazing place to go for a quick snack or a bug feast I loved it here as the music is amazing and they are so nice to you when you enter. Me and my dad had an amazing time here and demolished 2 of there mushroom and steak pies witch where Devine. The price us great to as we paid 7 dollars for a pie from heaven.
We ended up at Pestle and Mortar by accident really. A weekend in Wellington and we were up at some ridiculous hour due to the Favourite Husband being wide awake and bored.nThis was the first open cafe we stumbled across. Got to be honest, myself in particular had pretty low expectations. And that’s purely based on the ambience. Or lack thereof. It just felt a little uninspired. In need of a splash of creative flair. A bit beige.nThe Favourite Husband had the big breakkie yawn - and some would say also in need of a splash of creative flair and I settled on good old bacon and eggs. The menu is pretty basic and I was slightly hungover.nThis is no frills cafe food. Like a good old London greasy spoon in the late 1980’s, without the builder’s tea.nAnd I have to say it was perfect. The food was lovely and hot. The eggs were very fresh and perfectly cooked. The bacon was how I would do it at home. Crispy and not greasy. I could eat this every day.nThe big breakkie, again basic, but much the same; tasty, hot and great value for money. The coffee was ok. The service was friendly.nI’m not sure I’d go back, but I’d recommend you not be put off by appearances. Unless you meet my ex-husband …
The atmosphere is very nice. Can have a peaceful dine in. The owners seemed to be so busy so we had to wait for awhile for our flat white. We didn’t try foods there. Flat white was fine but not upto the expectations. Since they were busy they seemed delaying orders and less concentration on orders. So waiting time was longer.
Warm and nice people, great food and coffee. Very cozy cafe I’ll keep going back to for lunch or a snack. Music can be a bit too loud for my taste, but it’s really worth a visit!
Amazing food and prices! $13.50 for GENEROUS bacon and eggs on toast! Great coffee too! The pies and cabinet food look yum too!
